Orientation workshop: Developing the curriculum of the subject "Social work with people with disabilities" for undergraduate and postgraduate levels of Social Work was held on February 28, 2012. Attending the workshop were delegates from 17 universities nationwide, research units, social organizations, scientists, and experts from non-governmental organizations.The Workshop on Developing the Curriculum of the Subject “Social Work with People with Disabilities” at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of Social Work was held to gather opinions from training institutions that have, are and will train at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of Social Work on the curriculum of the subject. At the workshop, managers, experts and lecturers of Social Work exchanged and shared ideas and experiences on relevant theoretical, practical and methodological issues, and discussed the connection and participation in coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate training in Social Work in general and the major of Social Work with People with Disabilities nationwide in particular. In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal of the School - emphasized: Helping people with disabilities is becoming an urgent need, one of the broad international issues that also has profound social and humanistic significance. In addition to general policies and support activities, research and inclusion of working with people with disabilities as a subject is also a practical need. Including working with people with disabilities in the social work curriculum and training will contribute to the effective development of those scientific theoretical systems. With funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Vietnam Association for the Assistance of the Disabled (VNAH), the project to develop the curriculum for the subject "Social Work with People with Disabilities" is expected to be implemented in 2 years, with a specific roadmap as follows: - Compile the curriculum and teaching materials on social work supporting people with disabilities at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, applied to the official training program of the Social Work major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and 17 other universities - Establish a network of universities training in social work in Vietnam to participate in giving comments during the process of developing the curriculum and teaching materials for the subject of social work with people with disabilities, ensuring application to the official training program of the Social Work major at universities - Provide training for social work lecturers - Print 600 textbooks after the compilation is completed and provide them to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and other universities in the network - Provide training for social work lecturers at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and other universities in the network - Support and guide universities in the network in applying the program and curriculum - Conduct trial teaching before completing the curriculum compilation.

Compiling social work textbooks for people with disabilities in social work training programs at graduate and post-graduate levels is a good opportunity to research, select, and apply theories and methods to build training models and implement specific training in a suitable manner in the economic, social, political, cultural and traditional conditions of Vietnam, while promoting the development of social work science in our country.
