Against the backdrop of the ASEAN Community's establishment at the end of 2015, the Political Science Faculty's Student Union hosted the "Understanding the ASEAN Community" competition to raise awareness and a sense of responsibility; and to create opportunities and motivation for union members and students in the university to study, research, and enhance their understanding of the ASEAN Community. The competition also served as a valuable platform to foster exchange, learning, and strengthen solidarity among units within the university.

Attending the program were Comrade Hoang Dinh Luong – Deputy Secretary and Vice President of the Youth Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Chairman of the Association of Retired Teachers; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University; Dr. Tran Bach Hieu – Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Secretary of the University's Youth Union; and many other guests.
In addition, Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Mr. Nguyen Son Ngoc - Head of the ASEAN Department - Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh will be the judges in the competition.

With the participation of 14 teams, after the preliminary round held on November 23, 2015, the Organizing Committee selected the 5 best teams to participate in the final round, including teams from the following units: Political Science, Tourism Studies, Oriental Studies, History Department and International Studies Department.

With four engaging sections: Greetings, Knowledge, Talent, and Debate, the competition equipped students with a wealth of knowledge and skills to prepare them for integration into the ASEAN Community in the future.
In the final results, the Faculty of Oriental Studies won first prize. The Faculty of International Studies and the Faculty of Political Science received second and third prizes, respectively. Two consolation prizes were awarded to the Faculty of History and the Faculty of Tourism Studies.
