On the evening of May 9, 2014, the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) organized an art exchange night titled "Melodies of Friendship" and awarded prizes for the "Humanities in Me" competition. The program was an activity to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 8th Congress of the University's Youth Union (2014-2017 term) and to commemorate the 124th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth.
Attending the exchange night were Mr. Vu Van Hai - President of the Student Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Mr. Tran Bach Hieu - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Lan - President of the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with representatives from the leadership of functional departments/offices of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and more than 400 Vietnamese and international students studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The "Melodies of Friendship" art exchange night was organized with the desire to create an environment for interaction between Vietnamese students and foreign students studying at the university. The program is a special journey that takes the audience to visit the lands, people, and unique cultural and artistic features of various countries and regions, thereby strengthening the spirit of solidarity and international friendship.
Through their performances, Vietnamese and international students brought to the evening the unique cultural characteristics of their respective nations. The performance of "Duyen Quan Ho" transported the audience to the Kinh Bac region, where they met the Quan Ho folk singers, who are preserving the intangible cultural heritage of humanity – Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs. Meanwhile, the dance "Bai Ca Que Huong" (Song of the Homeland) took the audience to Mongolia, a land famous for its grasslands, fermented mare's milk, and music influenced by nature and nomadic customs. "Ngon Lua Cao Nguyen" (The Flame of the Highlands) depicted the Central Highlands, a land full of sunshine, wind, and nameless nostalgia. And the Yosakoi dance captivated the audience with its beauty reflecting traditional Japanese culture...
