Establishing a collaborative relationship with Songkla University (Thailand)

On May 13, 2014, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from Songkla University (Thailand) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamol Songwathana (Faculty of Management Science). Also participating in the meeting were Ms. Tran Diep Thanh (Deputy Head of the International Cooperation and Training Department) and Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Head of the Department of Science and Technology Policy and Management, Faculty of Management Science).

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the history of development, training scale, and international relations of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.The university currently has formal cooperation relationships with more than 20 Thai universities such as Chukalongkon, Mahidol, Thamasat, Chiang Mai, Bangsomdejchaopraya Rajabhat, Ubon Rajathanee… Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh proposed establishing a formal cooperation relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Songkla University.

Associate Professor Kamol Songwathana endorsed the proposals of Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh and stated that the cooperation between the two sides would contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two universities in particular and the relationship between Vietnam and ASEAN countries in general.

Leaders from both universities affirmed that there are many opportunities and prospects for cooperation between the two universities, especially in the fields of Management Science and Political Science.

Songkla University comprises five campuses in Hat Yai, Pattani, Phuket, Surat Thani, and Trang, with 30 faculties and over 40 research centers. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including law, economics, management science, social sciences and humanities, political science, media studies, international studies, natural resources, and pharmacy.
