Thursday - May 8, 2014 01:00
On May 6, 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Journalism and Communication, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation received a representative of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS – Germany), Dr. Wilhelm Hofmeister (Director of the Regional Program: Political Dialogue with Asia). The meeting focused on discussing the potential and opportunities for cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the KAS in the future.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh reviewed the main cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the KAS Institute in many fields of academia, education, culture, etc. In the field of research, the two sides have co-organized many important international scientific conferences such as "Vietnam joins the WTO: Social capital - human resource development" in November 2006, "Economic journalism model in Vietnam and Germany: the appearance of economic information in the press and media" in May 2013, "Information source management and information providers in the digital age" in March 2014, etc.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh, the above cooperation has shown that KAS Institute is one of the long-term and reliable partners of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. On that basis, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh continues to propose new cooperation through co-organizing many seminars in the political field: The role of Germany in Vietnam's regional cooperation and integration, EU - ASEAN relations in security and integration, the new EU strategy in Asia, the role of the EU and its member countries in relations with ASEAN as well as Vietnam, the possibility of applying press and media to social governance, etc.

Dr. Wilhelm Hofmeister highly appreciated the above proposals and said that KAS Institute wishes to expand cooperation with the University in the above mentioned fields. These will be the driving forces to promote the relationship between the two sides in particular and the relationship between Germany and Vietnam in general, in the context of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam - Germany relations in 2015.
