What skills do students need? What does active and proactive learning mean? And what are your future plans? All these questions were answered in the final round of the USSH Arena competition, held on the evening of May 10th at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Attending the competition were Mr. Phan Son, M.Sc. - Human Resources Director of VTI Group, Mr. Hoang Trong Nghia - Director of ICANDO Career Guidance and Education Development Joint Stock Company, and a large number of lecturers and students from the University.

Four out of the sixteen teams with the highest total scores from Round I-Post – the poster exhibition round on the theme: the importance of being proactive in learning and taking initiative in career planning – were selected to compete live in the final round.

Here, the four teams compete in four rounds:

First round: I am a student.

In this segment, the judges and audience witnessed impressive and unique "I am a student" introductions from the four teams: a dazzling and colorful dance performance from the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Management Science; a blend of music, rap, and drama from the Faculty of International Studies; and an impressive dance performance from the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management during a credit-based class...

The second round of the competition has the theme: Learn thoroughly.

This part of the competition requires quick thinking and intelligence from the teams. Here, teams will have to directly draw a scenario and answer it on stage. The problems presented are situations very close to the students' own campus life.

Round 3: See it through to the end.

This is the most challenging and intense round. In this round, the competing teams face recruiters directly, presenting their resumes and skills to convince them right on the USSH competition stage. This is a truly authentic experience, not only for the students but also for all the audience members in the hall.

The final round demands courage and creativity from the competing teams. In this round, teams will draw lots for topics, and after 3 minutes of preparation, they will deliver a live speech on the competition stage.

At the end of the competition, the First Prize went to the Faculty of Management Science. The Second Prize went to the Faculty of Philosophy. The Third Prize went to the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management. The Honorable Mention went to the Faculty of International Studies.

Sharing his thoughts on the performance of students in the recruitment arena, Mr. Phan Son, Human Resources Director of VTI Group, said: the most important thing for students when applying for jobs is to clearly define the employer's goals and their own personal goals, avoiding arguments with the employer during the interview.

Mr. Son also emphasized that one key phrase that all four teams made, and a common mistake among many recent graduates, is: during the recruitment process, they always utter the phrase "I'm a student, so I'm like this and like that."When being tested by recruiters on your interview response skills, these are words that most recruiters don't want to hear, and you should avoid them."

Concluding the competition night, Professor Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Rector of the University - commented: "The USSH competition is not only a playground for students, but also considered a training activity of the University. This activity will be encouraged and supported more because of its usefulness and the results it brings to the students themselves."

The USSH Arena is part of a series of activities for the 2nd Casa Day - Career Counseling and Training Support Day event. This is an important activity that creates a joyful, proactive, and positive learning atmosphere; helping students gain deeper insights into their future career paths.
