On the morning of September 10, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities solemnly held the opening ceremony for the new academic year 2011-2012.The opening ceremony was attended by numerous generations of faculty, staff, students, and trainees of the University. Professor Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan – Director of Hanoi National University – was also present. In his opening speech, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector of the University – reviewed the outstanding achievements of the University in the past academic year in all aspects of its activities. In the 2010-2011 academic year, the training work achieved many outstanding results. The University had just completed four years of implementing the transition from the semester-based system to the credit-based system and is currently implementing the second phase of the transition, making credit-based training more in-depth, comprehensive, and effective. As a result, the first cohort of bachelor's degree students trained under the credit-based system graduated over 90%, with 99.3% achieving a grade of "good" or higher, including 5 students who graduated one year early and 30 students who graduated one semester early. In the past academic year, the university successfully completed the acceptance of dozens of research projects, including 5 national-level scientific projects. In collaboration with domestic and international partners, the university successfully organized 25 scientific seminars/conferences, notably 16 international ones. Faculty members published 680 articles in specialized journals and scientific conferences. Furthermore, international cooperation continued to expand and develop; last year, the university signed 14 cooperation agreements with universities in Germany, Hungary, South Korea, China, and Thailand.

Thanks to the aforementioned efforts, at the end of the 2010-2011 academic year, many collectives and individuals in the school were awarded prestigious titles and awards from the Party and the State. In particular, the school received the Ho Chi Minh Order on the occasion of its 65th anniversary. On the occasion of the opening of the new academic year 2010-2011, the school also organized a ceremony to award certificates of merit and prizes to 4 top-scoring students in the recent university entrance exam and 50 students from various cohorts with excellent and good academic results in the 2010-2011 academic year. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan - Director of Hanoi National University - affirmed the prestige and importance of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in contributing to the building and development of the country throughout history. The Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, particularly emphasized that to build upon the achievements of the 2011-2012 academic year, the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities need to continue to be pioneers, innovative, and strive for higher quality and efficiency, approaching international standards in all aspects of the university's activities in training and scientific research; paying close attention to strong innovation in curriculum, content, and teaching methods towards developing students' abilities and skills; creating a democratic, objective, and modern working environment; better exploiting strengths in basic sciences and social sciences and humanities; and thoroughly applying output-based management methods...

During the 2011-2012 academic year, the School will focus on the following key tasks: + Implementing the planning and transformation of training programs towards integration, strengthening the interoperability between training disciplines, reducing the number of subjects, and improving the quality of training; effectively implementing existing strategic programs while simultaneously launching 1-2 new majors/specializations; continuing to expand international joint training programs. + Focusing on training and developing qualified staff, international joint training programs, and high-quality training; organizing strong research groups, primarily in the disciplines/specializations involved in strategic training programs and international joint programs. + Developing 1-2 projects and several independent state-level scientific research topics; chairing and organizing several highly interdisciplinary workshops. + Conduct end-of-term school evaluations, carry out self-assessment of the Linguistics program according to AUN standards; upgrade facilities and teaching equipment. + Continue to innovate university governance, enhance the use of information technology in administrative work, management, and operation of the school; strengthen discipline, culture, and academic order.
