On the morning of September 5, 2011, the Center for Research on Development of Ethnic Minorities - Mountainous Areas and the Red River Basin (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) sponsored all school bags and books with a total value of 175 million VND to students of Son Hai Primary School - Luc Ngan - Bac Giang right at the opening ceremony.Son Hai Primary School currently has 469 students with 5 different school locations with complex terrain, the farthest one is more than 30 minutes away by motorboat. More than 80% of the students are ethnic minority children (Tay, Nung). Over the years, the construction of Son Hai Primary School's facilities has mainly relied on funding from Plan and the Government's Project 135. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (Principal) confided: The economic conditions of the people and the locality are very difficult, so the School always expects the generosity of sponsors.
Through this sponsorship activity, with the help of media agencies, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities - Mountainous Areas together with Hoang Phu Joint Stock Company and Gia Khanh Restaurant hope that economic units nationwide, collectives and individuals will pay more attention to the Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas and "pay more attention and share more with the difficult areas of the Fatherland; with ethnic minorities in general and students, students, and youth of ethnic groups in particular to awaken and light up their dreams and ambitions".
Since June 2010, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas has provided grants to localities with a total value of nearly 900 million VND.
