On the morning of September 5, 2011, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities - Mountainous Areas and the Red River Basin (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) donated school bags and textbooks worth a total of 175 million VND to students of Son Hai Primary School - Luc Ngan - Bac Giang at the opening ceremony of the new school year.Son Hai Primary School currently has 469 students across 5 different school locations in a complex terrain, with the furthest location requiring a motorboat ride of over 30 minutes. Over 80% of the students are children of ethnic minorities (Tay and Nung). For many years, the construction of Son Hai Primary School's facilities has primarily relied on funding from Plan International and the Government's Project 135. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (Principal) shared: "The economic conditions of the people and the locality are very difficult, so the school always hopes for the generosity of sponsors."

Through this sponsorship activity, with the support of media agencies, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions, together with Hoang Phu Joint Stock Company and Gia Khanh Restaurant, hopes that economic entities nationwide, collectives, and individuals will pay more attention to the development of ethnic minorities and mountainous regions and "show more concern and share more with the disadvantaged areas of the country; with ethnic minorities in general and ethnic minority students and young people in particular, in order to awaken and ignite their dreams and aspirations."

From June 2010 to the present, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions has provided funding to localities totaling nearly 900 million VND.
