On July 2, 2012, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Prof. Preng Kittratporn (Rector of Phranakhon Rajabhat University, President of the Association of Thai Universities of Education) had a meeting to discuss future cooperation activities between the two sides.At the meeting, the two professors signed a cooperation extension document between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Phranakhon Rajabhat University, and officially signed a framework cooperation document between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Association of Thai Universities of Education. Accordingly, cooperation activities will focus on issues related to educational development, including sharing scientific information, learning materials, and joint research results; developing projects to improve the capacity of staff, improve students' adaptability to the labor market; coordinating the organization of seminars; exchanging lecturers and students, etc.

Professor Nguyen Van Khanh assessed that this event would open a new stage of development in the bilateral relationship between the two universities as well as between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Thai partners. The Rector proposed to build a cooperation program between the two sides to develop Thai Studies in Vietnam and develop Vietnamese Studies at Thai universities. He also shared about the project to build an international Southeast Asian Studies program jointly implemented by the University and several major universities in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia, thereby emphasizing the prospects of the two sides in conducting joint research on Southeast Asian Studies. Professor Nguyen Van Khanh suggested that Phranakhon Rajabhat University continue to help with postgraduate training for former students and young lecturers of Vietnam. Professor Preng Kitratporn highly appreciated the effectiveness of cooperation between the two universities in recent times. He said that this cooperative relationship has become a model for other universities in Thailand. Phranakhon Rajabhat University is implementing a major research program on culture, society, and tourism, so it is very eager to collaborate with scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. On this occasion, Professor Preng Kitratporn invited Vietnamese scientists to attend a conference on education and training in Thailand in December.
