At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim briefly introduced the history of training and research of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a leading address for training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The University currently has 13,000 students of all systems, over 700 lecturers and civil servants and has international relations with over 200 universities worldwide. Among the University's partners, the Vice President affirmed that Japan is always an important partner in the international cooperation development strategy. In particular, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim expressed his sincere thanks to Waseda University and Prof. Shiraishi personally for helping the University organize the workshop "Vietnam - Indochina - Japan Relations during World War II".

Prof. Shiraishi Masaya expressed his gratitude to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim and proposed new cooperative activities such as organizing a second international conference to follow the above conference, implementing the plan to publish the Conference Proceedings, and expanding the scale of the conference project to Southeast Asia to attract the participation of countries in the region.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim welcomed the proposals of Prof. Shiraishi Masaya and hoped that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Waseda University (Japan) would soon take the necessary steps to implement these ideas.
On September 18, 2015, the international conference “Vietnam – Indochina – Japan relations during World War II – Documents and perceptions” took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The conference focused on the main contents: studying the Vietnam – Japan relations during World War II, focusing on clarifying the process of Japan’s occupation of Vietnam and its impacts on the change of Vietnamese colonial society.
