On February 25, 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Vice Rector of the University and Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Vice Head of the History Department received and worked with representatives of the German Research Foundation (DFG) led by Dr. Ingrid Kruessmann - Director of the International Relations Department in charge of East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

The purpose of this visit of the delegation to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is to introduce the Fund, hoping that many staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will know about the Fund's activities and apply to participate in research projects in the coming years. Currently, the DFG is also closely coordinating with the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted) to finance basic scientific research projects in both natural sciences and social sciences.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh introduced the main achievements in training, scientific research and the main research directions of the University; emphasizing the goal of building a research university, strengthening research projects, especially international publishing... The Vice President expressed his hope that the DFG Fund and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities could cooperate to conduct international research.

Dr. Ingrid Kruessmann said: The relationship between Nafosted and DFG is opening up many new development opportunities. Both sides are ready to welcome and fund excellent scientific research proposals from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

It is known that in 2013, the DFG Fund sponsored the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Giessen (Germany) to co-organize an international conference on the topic "Population, Health and Medicine in Developing Countries: The Case of Vietnam from the 18th Century to the Present", with the participation of 8 scientists from Germany and France.
