At the meeting, leaders of the two schools directly discussed cooperation opportunities between the two sides in expanding and developing the social work sector.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal of the University said: Social work as a training science appeared in Vietnam about 10 years ago. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the pioneers in opening a social work training major under the Faculty of Sociology. The strength of the Social Work major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is that it is developed on the foundation of basic and interdisciplinary sciences. Up to now, the University has trained a large number of experts and social workers.
Next, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim proposed some main cooperation contents between the two sides in the coming time: Wishing the two schools to cooperate in training programs from bachelor - master - doctorate; Coordinate in organizing scientific seminars, joint research, document exchange; Support training of lecturers and experts in social work.
Prof. Dr. Jannah Mather - Dean of the School of Social Work, University of Utah agreed with the cooperation proposals between the two schools and affirmed: The University of Utah is ready to cooperate with USSH and wishes to learn more about the development of the social work industry in Vietnam. Prof. Jannah Mather also added about three issues of great concern today: mental health, child protection and women's health. Therefore, she hopes that in the near future, the two sides can jointly organize scientific seminars on these issues.
The University of Utah has over 60 years of social work education and is one of the leading public research universities in the United States. In November 2013, the University of Utah and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed an official cooperation agreement between the two schools.
