The 2008 Educational Initiative Fund Project was implemented by the Psychological Counseling Support Center of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities from November 2008 to May 2009. The project targets Hmong children of primary and secondary school age in Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province.

The project targets Hmong children of primary and secondary school age in Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province.

The project's activities will be implemented at Sang Ma Sao Primary and Secondary School, Sang Ma Sao Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province.
The main activities of the Project include:
- Training to improve Hmong language communication skills for teachers of Sang Ma Sao school, the target is that 70% of teachers can use Hmong language in communication;
- Organize a teaching contest using a combination of Vietnamese and Hmong languages for primary and secondary school teachers;
- Organize the "Talented Student" contest for primary and secondary school students of Sang Ma Sao;
- Build a friendly library with many books suitable for the psychology of middle school students;
- Building a "Botanical Garden" at Sang Ma Sao School, which provides food and vegetables to improve meals for teachers and boarding students, increasing income for the school's general living fund.
The project is expected to improve the teaching and learning quality of Hmong teachers and students, especially through enhancing language communication skills between teachers and students in both Vietnamese and Hmong; organizing many exciting and effective extracurricular activities to stimulate students' interest in learning; initially helping them access a variety of rich information content to expand their knowledge and stimulate their passion for learning.
To carry out the above activities, the Psychological Support and Counseling Center also calls on students, teachers and those interested in the project to support books, notebooks, stories, newspapers, school supplies... to build a library for Hmong students.
