Religious Culture in the Context of Globalization is the Proceedings of the International Conference of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, sponsored by the German Institute for Religious Studies (Missionswissenschaftliches Institut Missio Aachen e. V, abbreviated as MWI) published in 2010. This is the first conference on religious studies held at Vietnam National University, Hanoi. As the first publication of the Center for Contemporary Religious Studies, the Proceedings demonstrate the Center's efforts in promoting religious studies, which have existed in Vietnam since the colonial period, but for many objective and subjective reasons were interrupted during the war years and have only been revived in the past two decades. Although only in its third year, some of the Center's programs such as guest professors, seminars, and staff training have gradually become regular. In 2011, it promises to have an additional library building program. With over 650 pages, the Proceedings select more than 30 articles from Vietnamese and foreign scholars, including two main areas: Basic theoretical issues of religious culture and Some issues of Christian culture and Buddhist culture. Many articles such as "Smith, Lonergan and Faith" by Prof. Kim Chae Young (Sogang University, Korea), “Professing the Truth and Profession of Faith in Religion” by Prof. Tran Van Doan (National Taiwan University), “Religion in the Globalization Process” by Bishop Phaolo Nguyen Thai Hop, “Catholicism and Globalization” by Father Thien Cam, “Culture and Religion” by Prof. Do Quang Hung, “Religious Consciousness and Secularization Theory in Asia and Vietnam” by Dr. Nguyen Xuan Nghia, etc. raise many suggestive issues that help us scientifically evaluate the relationship between culture and religion as well as specific cultural and religious fields in the current context of globalization. All articles have summaries in English, some articles are published in full in Vietnamese and English for the convenience of both Vietnamese and foreign readers.
