On the afternoon of July 9th, 4,702 candidates took the History exam.According to initial reports on the first day of the exam, four candidates were suspended for using prohibited materials (two in Literature and two in History), and two candidates received reprimands during the History exam. A considerable number of candidates submitted their papers and left the exam room after two-thirds of the allotted time had elapsed. Unlike the Literature exam, many candidates appeared anxious and worried. Upon leaving the exam area, many quickly retrieved their books and notebooks to check their answers and discuss them with each other. When asked, most candidates stated that the questions were not overly difficult but required high levels of reasoning, demanding careful reading of the questions.

Candidate Hoang Thi Thoa (Quang Ninh), who took the Literature exam, said: "This year's exam wasn't too difficult, but it required high-level reasoning. The question 'Analyze the reasons for Nguyen Ai Quoc's search for a path to national salvation' required a synthesis of knowledge. The world history question, in my opinion, was a bit broad and more difficult; question 3, about 'In the resistance war against the US, how did the Vietnamese people accomplish the task of 'driving the Americans out' with what victory...', was a question that could easily be answered incorrectly if not read carefully. For students specializing in History, this year's exam wasn't difficult; just reading the questions carefully was enough to answer them all." Candidate Nguyen Manh Thang (a student from My Duc B High School) left the exam room excitedly: "For us students specializing in History, this exam wasn't too difficult. Just reading the questions carefully was enough to do well, and it was important to remember the dates." Sharing the same opinion that the exam wasn't too difficult, candidate Do Van Toan, who applied to the Faculty of Political Science, added: "This year's exam didn't focus on any specific major strategies, but rather covered general knowledge requiring candidates to study thoroughly. It's a pity I couldn't remember everything; I couldn't remember all the world history questions, so I didn't do well." After the first day of exams with two subjects, the tension among the candidates had eased. Nguyen Thi Thuy (Hai Duong) said: "Having a basic understanding of History and Literature is enough to do well. I did well on both subjects today. I think I can get 7-8 points in History. As soon as I left the exam area, I called my History teacher to ask for the answers. I'm so happy because I got question 3 right, unlike some other students who made mistakes." Tomorrow morning, candidates will take their final exam, Geography, concluding the second round of the university entrance exam for Group C.
