Young people change their Facebook profile pictures, expressing their condolences to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

Without anyone urging, voluntarily, a series of young people using the social network Facebook changed their profile pictures to black and white to express their sadness and grief at the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Many people posted simple, everyday, and familiar photos of the General Secretary when meeting with his compatriots, as a way to express their condolences to a simple, familiar leader of the Vietnamese people. Next to them, there were short poems, emotional lines full of mood.

In particular, many young people have reposted the quote that the General Secretary often mentioned: "We only live once, so we must live meaningfully; what's the use of having a lot of money? We can't take it with us when we die. Honor is the most sacred thing."

Sharing about the above action of using black and white images on social networks, Nguyen Viet Anh, a student at Foreign Trade University, affirmed that he did not follow the trend but did it out of emotion.

"The General Secretary is like my grandfather, calm, upright but warm and loving to the young. I watch the news and see that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong not only left behind good achievements for the development of society and the country but above all, many thoughts and feelings were sent to us young people. Now that he has returned to Uncle Ho, I want to do something to show my respect and gratitude to this great leader, so I changed my personal page image to black and white. The action is simple but the feelings in my heart are real."
