In implementing the plan to organize the "First Academic Advising Skills Competition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities," the Organizing Committee launched a competition titled "Assigning Questions and Scenarios for Academic Advisors" specifically for students. The aim is to encourage students to develop scenarios requiring solutions regarding academic advising; thereby selecting typical scenarios to serve as competition questions for academic advisors.The competition plan is as follows: A. COMPETITION RULES 1. Eligibility: All full-time students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Contestants can be individual students or groups of students (no limit on the number), and from now on, they will be collectively referred to as contestants. 2. Competition Content: - Contestants will present scenarios requiring solutions to problems within the scope of the academic advisor's duties (see the regulations on the duties of academic advisors in Article 39 of the Training Regulations at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, issued under Decision No. 3079/QD-VNU, dated October 26, 2010), with a focus on the relationship between academic advisors and students in guiding them on regulations, training programs, study planning, learning methods, and career orientation. - There is no limit to the number of scenarios a contestant can submit. 3. How to participate: There are two ways to participate: - Participants can access the university's website at ussh.edu.vn to participate. Details on how to participate can be found on the website. - If not participating directly on the website, participants should write their entries on A4 paper, type clearly, and include their full name, student ID number, and contact phone number. Entries should be placed in a sealed envelope, labeled "Entry for the Question and Scenario Presentation for Academic Advisor" and sent to the Center for Journalism and Communication (2nd floor, Building H). Paper submissions will be uploaded to the website by the Organizing Committee as if they were submitted directly online. 4. Prizes 4.1 Prizes awarded based on public voting (staff, students, and guests) directly on the website: - 5 prizes for the scenarios with the most public votes: 200,000 VND/prize. - One special prize from the Center for Journalism and Communication Training worth 500,000 VND and a scholarship reducing tuition fees by 50% for the "
Television broadcasting" or "
Journalism writing skills” for the situation with the most public votes. 4.2 Jury Prizes - General prizes, including: + 1st prize worth 400,000 VND + 2nd prizes worth 300,000 VND each + 3rd prizes worth 200,000 VND each + 10 consolation prizes worth 100,000 VND each - Individual prizes worth 100,000 VND each for the following: + 1 prize for the situation that receives at least 80% of the maximum score from the jury and is submitted earliest – based on the time recorded on the website. This prize does not apply to written submissions. + 4 prizes for situations that receive at least 80% of the maximum score from the jury and are submitted earliest, considered separately for each course. - Prizes are awarded for the submitted situation, so one contestant may receive multiple prizes. - Contestants There is an opportunity to be invited to participate with the Judging Panel in the "Responsibility" and "Creativity" rounds of the First Academic Advisor Professional Competition. This invitation is based on the quality of the contestant's entry and is decided by the Judging Panel. 5. Scoring Method 5.1 Public Choice Award - The award will be based on the number of public votes for each question/situation. - Cases proven to violate the rules of the voting process will not be awarded. - The website administrator's conclusion on the number of votes is final. 5.2 Judging Panel Award based on the following criteria: - Points for Topic: Reflects the greatest concern of the majority of students. The greatest concern here is measured by the topic with the most situations addressed in this competition. Scoring level: 10 points - Points for Content: Addresses many aspects of the regulations and many facets of the relationship between academic advisors and students. Scoring level Scoring: Maximum 20 points - Points for situational construction: Dramatic (transformed into a theatrical skit), constructive, humorous. Scoring: Maximum 20 points. B. COMPETITION SCHEDULE - March 23, 2011: Launch of the competition - April 20, 2011: Deadline for submission - May 7, 2011: Award ceremony and closing event.
