
Attending the opening ceremony, on behalf of the 358th AUN-QA Assessment Team were Prof. Dr. Rohaida Mohd. Saat, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia, Head of the Assessment Committee, along with the assessors for four training programs from two universities.
Representing Vietnam National University, Hanoi were Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy - Director of the Institute for Educational Quality Assurance; Dr. Tran Thi Hoai - Deputy Director; and Dr. Bui Vu Anh - Deputy Director.
Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector, Dr. Pham Huy Cuong - Director of the Center for Educational Quality Assurance; along with staff and lecturers from the Departments of International Studies, Psychology, and Sociology.
Representing the University of Science, VNU Hanoi were Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh - Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Binh - Vice Rector; Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son - Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang - Vice Rector; and other faculty members of the university.
The 358th AUN-QA evaluation team, comprising evaluators from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, will be working at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Science to assess training programs. The team includes four working groups:
- Group 1: Evaluation of the Bachelor of Sociology Program (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi)
- Group 2: Evaluation of the Bachelor of Psychology Program (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi)
- Group 3: Evaluation of the Bachelor of International Studies Program (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi)
- Group 4: Evaluation of the Bachelor of Nuclear Technology and Engineering Program (Faculty of Science, VNU Hanoi)
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy, Director of the Institute for Educational Quality Assurance, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), stated that VNU's mission is to train high-quality human resources and nurture talent; promote advanced science and technology, innovation, and knowledge transfer; contribute to building, developing, and protecting the nation; and play a crucial and pioneering role in the reform of Vietnam's higher education system. Therefore, VNU always aims for international accreditation of its training programs.

At Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), quality assurance in education is a continuous and ongoing effort. Currently, the percentage of accredited undergraduate programs is 63.7%, with international accreditation accounting for 32.6%, and the percentage of accredited master's programs is 7.9%, with international accreditation accounting for 6.7%. These are noteworthy figures.
According to AUN-QA's educational accreditation standards, key aspects of the training program will be evaluated, such as: program objectives and learning outcomes, teaching content, teaching methods, assessment methods, quality assurance activities, faculty and students, facilities and student support… Based on this, the evaluation team will provide advice to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Science to improve and enhance the quality of their training programs.

Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy emphasized: “This will be a great opportunity for us to receive useful advice from education experts from leading universities in the region, helping us identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in the evaluated programs in particular and the quality of training at VNU in general.”
Accrediting training programs according to international standards will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the labor market, as well as improving the prestige and brand of the university, and making a positive contribution to the development of society.”
With its pioneering position and core role in training and research in the country's basic sciences at regional and international levels, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has always been at the forefront of accreditation and quality improvement in education.
To date, VNU-USSH has had 9 training programs certified according to AUN-QA quality standards, and 15 training programs certified according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training.
In 2023, the university continued to evaluate 3 training programs according to AUN-QA standards (Psychology, Sociology, and International Studies) and accredited 3 more training programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (Information Management, Library and Information Technology, and Tourism and Travel Service Management).
