Webometrics 2024: Ranked 495th in Impact Index - VNU continues to increase its position and research quality

In the February 2024 ranking, VNU continued to maintain its No. 1 position in Vietnam and increased its position in the world rankings (from 671st to 649th) and the region (11th in Southeast Asia - up 1 place compared to the previous period and 140th in Asia - up 27 places compared to the previous period). Webometrics is an automatic ranking that evaluates the digital capacity and the level of diffusion and influence of academic resources of higher education institutions based on indicators of the level of diffusion and influence of website systems and online information (impact), openness of academic resources (openness) on Google Scholar, and scientific citation index on Scopus database system (excellence) of a higher education institution.
In this ranking period, Webometrics still maintains the same ranking method as in January 2021. Specifically, the criterion "Presence” (Amount of digital resources) has been eliminated in the ranking method, criteriaVisibility(Impact) has the highest weight (50%), followed by the criterionExcellence(Excellence) has a weight of 40% and the criteriaTransparency(Academic Openness) has a weight of 10% - in which, the Transperency criterion has continued to expand the number of scientist profiles reviewed and evaluated on the Google Scholar database to 290 profiles (top 21-310).Also in this ranking, VNU was ranked in the world's top 500 in the Impact criterion - demonstrating the strong and sustainable spread of VNU's digital resources and academic reputation to the educational community as well as the whole society.
  In 2023, VNU's training quality will continue to be highly appreciated by society. According to the rankings of prestigious ranking organizations in the world such as Times Higher Education and QS, VNU is continuously the best university in Vietnam, in the group of 1,000 leading universities in the world. VNU maintains the trend of increasing the ranked fields and increasing scores in the criteria of Academic Reputation and Recruitment.
In 2023, THE Impact Rankings takes the pioneering implementation of the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations as a criterion. VNU is ranked 401-600 in the world in this ranking, in particular, VNU has a strong breakthrough at 70th in the world in terms of Quality Education criteria.
According to the results of the QS Asia University Rankings 2024 (QS AUR 2024), VNU is ranked 187th - in the group of 22% of the leading higher education institutions in Asia. According to the results of QS AUR 2024, VNU has made steady progress in Recruitment Reputation when it increased to 131st position in Asia (with a score of 34.2 points). This result reflects the increasing training quality of VNU and is highly appreciated by the labor market - represented by domestic and international employers. In addition to the increase in Recruitment Reputation, VNU still maintains its strengths in International Research Network (ranked 89th in Asia - reaching 71.9 points) and Academic Reputation (ranked 147th in Asia - reaching 27.7 points).
In 2023, Times Higher Education ranked VNU in the group of 351-400 leading universities in Asia. Of the total 6 Vietnamese higher education institutions ranked, VNU was rated highest in the Teaching criteria group (learning environment, 21.7 points).
In October 2023, Times Higher Education announced the results of the rankings by subject (THE WUR by Subjects 2024). VNU increased the number of ranked subject groups to 8/11 subject groups (an increase of 2 subject groups compared to the 2023 ranking). Specifically, 2 subject groups were ranked for the first time by THE WUR: Education - ranked 401-500 and Clinical and Health - ranked 601-800. In addition, VNU continued to maintain 6 subject groups that were ranked in previous rankings: Social Sciences - ranked 501-600; Business and Economics - ranked 601-800; Life Sciences - ranked 801-1000; Computer Sciences ranked 801-1000; Engineering - ranked 801-1000; Physical Sciences - ranked 801-1000.
In March 2023, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 (QS WUR by subject 2023), VNU continued to maintain its position in key fields with 6 fields continuing to be ranked compared to 2022. In addition, 2 groups of fields of VNU continued to be ranked: Engineering & Technology and Natural Sciences, of which the Natural Sciences group was ranked No. 1 in Vietnam. Of the 6 ranked fields of VNU, 2 fields maintained their ranking positions: Computer Science & Information Systems - top 501-550 and Mathematics - top 351-400. Also in these 6 fields, VNU continues to maintain its No. 1 position in Vietnam in 2 fields: Physics & Astronomy and Business & Management Studies.
Cybermetrics Labs (under the Spanish National Research Council) has announced the results of the second Webometrics ranking in 2023. In this ranking, VNU continues to maintain its position in the top 700 best educational institutions with position 671, up 87 places compared to the 2022 ranking, continuing to maintain its No. 1 position in Vietnam and consolidating its ranking position in the region (12th place in Southeast Asia and 167th place in Asia).
