10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

Ensuring political security in ethnic minority areas is a matter of concern for many scholars, approached from various perspectives. For the first time, the issue of ensuring political security in ethnic minority areas is approached from a political science perspective. In this sense, the dissertation has made new scientific contributions, specifically:

- This thesis contributes to clarifying some basic concepts such as: ethnic minorities, ethnic minority regions, land borders, and ethnic minority regions along land borders. In addition, the thesis clarifies some theoretical issues regarding political security and ensuring political security in ethnic minority regions along land borders; the views of the Party and State on ensuring political security in ethnic minority regions along land borders; the subjects and responsibilities of the subjects; and the content and factors affecting the assurance of political security in ethnic minority regions along land borders in Vietnam.

- Surveying the current state of political security in the ethnic minority border areas of Dien Bien province, Vietnam, from 2005 to the present (2016). Through this, significant issues are identified as lessons learned in ensuring political security in these areas.

- Forecast the potential developments, advantages, and difficulties in ensuring political security in the ethnic minority border areas of Dien Bien province, Vietnam, in the coming period; and from there, propose solutions to ensure political security in the ethnic minority border areas of Dien Bien province, Vietnam, in the coming period.

11. Practical applications:

This study provides scientific arguments for the leadership and guidance of Party committees and local authorities in ensuring political security in ethnic minority areas. The research results can be used as reference material for research, teaching, and learning for cadres, lecturers, and students at academies, universities, colleges, and research institutes in Vietnam regarding security in general, and political security in ethnic minority areas in particular.

Research on factors impacting and influencing political security in the ethnic minority border region between Vietnam and Laos in Dien Bien province.

10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

Ensuring political security in ethnic minority areas is a top priority from many scholars, approaching at different angles. For the first time, the issue of ensuring political security in ethnic minority areas is approached from the political point of view. In that sense, the thesis has made new scientific contributions, namely:

- Contribute to clarify some basic concepts such as ethnic regions, ethnic regions, land borders and ethnic regions on the land border. Besides, the thesis is also clarified some discussed issues on political security and political security of ethnic minority areas on land border; the views of the Party and the State in ensuring the political security of ethnic minority areas on the land border; subjects, responsibility of the subjects; the content and factors affecting the political security of the ethnic areas on the Vietnam's border land.

- Survey on the actual situation in ensuring the political security of ethnic regions in Viet Nam and Laos's boder from 2005 to present (2016), thereby giving the experience lession in ensuring the political security of ethnic regions in Vietnam and Laos's boder in Dien Bien province.

- Forecast on the happening possibility of the situation, advantages and difficulties in ensuring the political security of ethnic minority areas along with the Vietnam-Laos border in Dien Bien province in the coming time; reflecting the measures to ensure the political security of ethnic areas in Vietnam and Laos' s boder in Dien Bien province.

Tobe references to research and teaching related issues in the field of political science as well as references for the leaders, managers in studying the renewal to perfect political system in Vietnam today.

Providing the scientific basis for the leadership of Party committees and local authorities in ensuring the political security of ethnic minority areas. Researching results can be used as reference materials in research, teaching and learning activities for staffs, tutors and students of institutes, universities, colleges... in Vietnam on insuring the security in general, security politics of ethnic minority in particular.
