11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
- The thesis has presented an overview of domestic and foreign research directions related to the meaning of words in relation to culture, studied the semantic comparison of cultural vocabulary between Vietnamese and English, and at the same time, established a framework for comparing cultural vocabulary.
- Analyze and compare the semantics of two typical cultural vocabulary groups: with real-life references and without real-life references between Vietnamese and English.
- Identify and highlight the similarities and differences on the linguistic level (the semantic level) and the cultural level (characteristics of social life, life philosophy, way of thinking...) between the two groups of cultural vocabulary of the communities using these two native languages.
12. Practical application:
In practice, understanding the similarities and differences in terms of language and culture between the Vietnamese and English-speaking communities will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of language use and cultivating Vietnamese not only for teaching native speakers but also for foreigners learning Vietnamese. On that basis, the research results of the thesis not only provide materials for studying the cultural identity of the Vietnamese and English people but also make practical contributions to explaining and analyzing bilingual translation issues (Vietnamese - English).
13. Further studies:
In the future, the author of the thesis can continue to conduct more in-depth research on cultural vocabulary semantics between Vietnamese word groups compared with English. At the same time, it is possible to conduct comparative research on cultural vocabulary semantics between many different languages to have a more comprehensive view of the linguistic and cultural characteristics between ethnic groups.
