+ Conclusion
Buddhism is a religion with profound philosophical thoughts, born in India, spread from India to many countries in the world, including Vietnam. When mentioning the transmission and development of Northern Buddhism, it is impossible not to mention Zen. Cao Dong is one of the five Zen sects born in China, from the Sixth Patriarch Hui Neng.
The Cao Dong Zen sect in the North was directly studied in China by Zen master Thuy Nguyet and spread to Vietnam. In the 17th century, Vietnamese history had certain changes in economics, politics, culture and society...
In the current context, the Cao Dong Zen sect is undergoing strong changes, showing many different trends of movement and development. However, it is easy to see that in terms of religious consciousness, religious worship, and organization, the Cao Dong Zen sect in Northern Vietnam, although it has been largely lost, still retains some basic characteristics and is tending to restore tradition.
The Cao Dong Zen sect has an important role and position in the historical flow of Vietnamese Buddhism. Generations of lamp transmission have promoted the tradition of patriotism, actively contributed to building and protecting the Fatherland, actively engaged in the world and strengthened community solidarity.
