This thesis aims to clarify the events of 1972 depicted in the documentary films "The Victory at Loc Ninh" by the group of authors Pham Khanh Hung, Dong Cam, Quang Dat, Trong Hoi, Quoc Hung, Nguyen Que, Thanh Dung, Bat Diet, Thanh Cao, Van Minh, Pham Nam, and Ho Thanh Xuan; "Hanoi, a Heroic Epic," directed by Phan Quang Dinh and Ngo Dang Tuat; and "1972, a Historic Year," directed by Le Lam and Vuong Duc Cu. Through a narrative approach, we want to explore the similarities and differences in the approach and methods of expressing the heroic spirit in these three documentary films of the People's Army Film Studio.
From there, we present research evaluating the documentary film genre, narrative art, and epic qualities by clarifying the story, plot, narrative structure, characters, narrator, and point of view. Simultaneously, the thesis clarifies cinematic language through an analysis of artistic elements such as staging, cinematography, editing, and sound. This leads to the affirmation of the values of documentary films, a genre with documentary value regarding history, current events, and pressing issues, containing social and humanistic significance. Furthermore, epic qualities are used by documentary filmmakers in their works to reflect major historical events in the life of a nation, thereby affirming the ideals and aspirations of the people and the era.

Through approaching a narrative perspective, we want to court the similarities and differences in the way to approach, and also the express modality of the epic in three documentary films of People's Army Cinema.
Since then, we put out the researches to estimate at documantary films, narrative art, and the epic through clarifying the story, plot, narrative structure, characters, narrator, point of view. At the same time, the thesis also clarifies movie language through analyzing artistic factors such as: staging, filming, editing, and sound. From this point to defining the values of documentary film, a kind of valuable documents of history, hot events, hot issues, containing social and humanities meanings. On the sides, the epic's used by mainstream documantary filmmakers in their works to reflect historical big events in the life of a nation, a country, by which affirming the ideals and aspirations of the people and the ages.
