The thesis examines the phenomena of adaptation between literature and television:Reply 1997, Descendants of the Sun, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?through the theory of reception aesthetics. From there, draw conclusions about the important role of the receiver in the text and the process of creating a work. Next, the thesis draws the significance of adapting works in creating the "soft power" of Korean culture. The thesis also helps the public as well as critics and researchers to re-evaluate the value of works labeled as entertainment, popular cultural products. More importantly, the thesis draws lessons in the strategy and creative process of Korea so that authors in Vietnam have a further orientation in creating and exporting culture.

The thesis examines the phenomenon of adaptation between Korean literatureSand dramaS:Reply 1997, Descendants of the Sun, What's wrong with Secretary Kim?through the theory of receptive aesthetics. Following this, the writer would like to confirm the important role of the receiver in the creation of literary works. Furthermore, the paper also examines the function of adaptations in exercising soft power of Korean culture within the global economic and cultural contexts. In addition, the paper aims to allow re-assessments by the public, critics and the academic world of the values brought by such “entertaining” works and cultural products. More important, several Lessons in the creative practices and strategies employed by Korea are identified in this paper, and this can help Vietnamese writers better plan for their own creative and cultural export process.
