On the morning of March 3, 2026, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong chaired a meeting with a delegation from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand). Also in attendance were leaders from the Department of Science, External Relations and Journals, the Faculty of International Studies, and the Institute of Policy, Innovation and Interdisciplinary Science. Representing Chulalongkorn University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Carl Middleton (Director of the Master's Program in International Development Studies), Dr. Sorasich Swangsilp (Deputy Head of the Faculty of Political Science), and faculty members from the Faculty.
In her opening remarks, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong introduced the scale, training programs, and achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, particularly emphasizing the areas of cooperation between the two sides: language, literature, cultural studies, political science, history, and international relations. With its strength as one of Vietnam's leading universities in training and scientific research in the social sciences and humanities, and with experience collaborating with over 200 universities and educational organizations worldwide, the cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chulalongkorn University is sure to be highly effective. Strengthening cooperation in the future will both leverage the resources and strengths of both institutions, while expanding opportunities for study and scientific research abroad for faculty and students of both universities.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong discussed the training fields in which both sides have strengths and potential for cooperation.
Associate Professor Carl Middleton, Director of the Master's Program in International Development Studies, congratulated the University on its achievements after 80 years of tradition and 30 years of establishment, and affirmed that the relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chulalongkorn University has been established for a long time with an MOU signed in 1995. Since then, the results of cooperative activities have played an important role in helping Chulalongkorn University enhance its position in the Thai and regional education systems. In the future, Chulalongkorn University hopes that both sides will promote new content, emphasizing several key areas: promoting cooperative training programs in Thai language, international languages and cultures, political science and international relations, communication, globalization, etc.
Through exchange and discussion, both sides proposed several specific activities for the future: student, faculty, and expert exchanges; collaborative training programs, curriculum development, reference material compilation, and other activities; scholarships for academic study and scientific research; and the organization of seminars, etc.
Shortly thereafter, the Faculty of International Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) collaborated with the Faculty of Political Science (Chulalongkorn University) to organize a thematic exchange with lecturers, staff, and 21 postgraduate students (from Europe, Australia, China, South Korea, and Southeast Asian countries) of Chulalongkorn University. This activity was part of the Chulalongkorn University postgraduate students' overseas practical program, which involved exchanging experiences and best practices in the development of various countries – an activity included in the University's training program.
Postgraduate students from Chulalongkorn University interacted and exchanged ideas with lecturers and students of the Faculty of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
