On the morning of February 3, 2026, at the headquarters of the Thai Embassy in Hanoi, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, held a strategic working meeting with Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam.
The meeting aimed to realize the results of cooperation following the School's recent trip to Thailand, and to finalize plans for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared with the Ambassador the positive and tangible results achieved by the University's delegation during their visit to Thailand at the end of January 2026. Based on this, the University leadership affirmed its commitment to closely cooperate with Thai partners to implement a series of key activities leading up to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand. Notable activities include: organizing the Vietnam-Thailand Cultural Festival, co-organizing an international scientific conference at Thammasat University, and opening Vietnamese language classes for Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand.

Highly appreciating the connecting role of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya shared positive signs regarding the growth of trade between the two countries in 2025. In particular, the Ambassador highlighted information about the Thai Culture Festival in Vietnam, scheduled to take place in May this year. The event promises to be a resounding success with the participation of numerous businesses and, especially, the presence of famous stars and artists from Thailand.
During the meeting, both sides reached a high level of agreement on continuing to promote the development of Thai studies in Vietnam and Vietnamese studies in Thailand. The focus of cooperation will be on faculty exchange programs and student exchanges, aiming to foster understanding and friendship between the younger generation and the people of the two countries.
At the end of the working session, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan respectfully invited Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya to visit the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, attend academic events, and give a thematic talk to the university's students. The Ambassador happily accepted the invitation and wished the delegation good health and success in preparation for the upcoming Vietnamese Lunar New Year.
