The event was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang - Head of the Department of Anthropology and Religious Studies, along with extremely practical and heartfelt sharing from special guest Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan - Former Deputy Head of the Government's Religious Affairs Committee.
The seminar provided the three most important "keywords" for the career paths of Anthropology and Religious Studies students:
- More than just "Academic": Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan presented a very realistic picture of recruitment from the State Management sector. Ministries and departments are currently in dire need of well-trained personnel with keen cultural, ethnic, and religious sensibilities to advise and formulate policies.
- The "Identity" Advantage: Contrary to concerns that the field of study is narrow, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang emphasizes that the in-depth research methodology, empathy (emic), and critical thinking of Anthropology/Religious Studies students are their sharpest "weapons" when applying to international NGOs, community development projects, or multicultural human resource management positions.
- Proactively create opportunities: Both speakers agreed that while qualifications are necessary, adaptability, language skills, and a commitment to fieldwork from the moment you leave school are sufficient conditions for you to "catch the eye" of recruiters.
Seeing the hands constantly raised and the eager eyes of the students during the Q&A session, the faculty members of the Department of Anthropology & Religious Studies were truly proud. The stereotype that studying social sciences makes it "difficult to find a job" has been completely shattered!
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan for his invaluable professional experiences. Thank you to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang for guiding and directing the Faculty, and thank you to all the students for creating such a vibrant academic atmosphere!
We wish the future graduates of the Faculty of Anthropology and Religious Studies continued confidence and readiness to conquer the career ladder ahead!
