Experts share insights on the crucial role and significance of AI in the digital age.
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Head of the Department of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, conveyed the following message to young people at the exchange event "Building the Future - Preparing for the World of Work" on March 29th: Be confident in your expertise, proficient in AI, and skilled in foreign languages – these will be the keys to unlocking all job opportunities.
This program is part of the USSH Open Day 2026 series of events, aiming to connect employers with students majoring in Linguistics and Vietnamese Studies, attracting a large number of students from both within and outside the university. Here, students receive information from experts from various businesses about the current labor market, recruitment needs, industry trends, as well as advice on writing CVs, answering interview questions, and job opportunities.
The open-ended questions raised by the students, along with the crucial knowledge and skills answered by the experts, partly explained the necessity of AI and specialized skills in the digital environment. The experts' dedicated sharing helped the students gain career guidance and learn how to find and seize opportunities for themselves.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, Director of Hanoi L&C Academy, with extensive experience in language training and management, believes that expertise and AI will help students complete their picture of practical skills and thinking. This will help them gain confidence, find clearer directions, and confidently equip themselves with a solid foundation, ready to conquer the ever-changing job market.
Ms. Le Thi Hong Thom, M.Sc. - Head of the Publishing and Editorial Department, Vietnam National University, Hanoi Publishing House, helps students understand how the knowledge they learn in the classroom is transformed into concrete intellectual products in practice. Her experience in "shaping" and conveying knowledge through books includes fascinating professional stories and helpful advice on career paths in the world of language.
Representatives from Dat Viet Tour Company presented a highly attractive field for young people, where language and culture are not just confined to pages or screens, but truly "live" through experiences, journeys, and direct connections between people. This is the field of Tourism and Travel Services – a promising yet challenging and extremely appealing area for students. Experts explained how to "bring culture to the world" and the practical career opportunities available in travel businesses.
The speakers' heartfelt sharing helped young people understand the rapid development of AI translation tools, what language students need to do to avoid being replaced in the eyes of employers; how language students need to change their editorial mindset to meet the diverse tastes of readers in the context of the digital book market; and how Vietnamese studies students need to be able to "tell cultural stories" when taking on leadership or mentoring positions.
The exchange session provided valuable insights, helping students better understand their role in the technological landscape. Beyond simply acquiring knowledge, the program also contributed to shaping their thinking, encouraging students to proactively acquire skills, develop interdisciplinary capabilities, and be ready to seize future career opportunities. The Faculty of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies continues to affirm its role as a dynamic academic space, connecting knowledge, promoting innovation, and accompanying students on their journey to adapt to the changes of the times.
