The ceremony was honored with the participation of Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University; former leaders of the Faculty, retired faculty members, high-ranking representatives from embassies of various countries, and numerous delegates from agencies, businesses, international organizations, domestic and foreign academic partners, as well as generations of lecturers, students, alumni and current students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Three decades of "building, laying the foundation, and setting the direction"Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Pham Hoang Hung, Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, emphasized that the past 30 years have been a journey of building and nurturing sustainable academic values. From its predecessor, the Department of Oriental Studies at Hanoi University (1993), to its official establishment in 1995, the Faculty has developed into a prestigious training environment with thousands of bachelors, masters, and doctoral graduates in various fields and specializations such as Oriental Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, Chinese Studies, Indian Studies, Thai Studies, and Asian Studies.

Many generations of leading intellectuals have made immense contributions in laying the foundation and building the academic prestige of the Faculty, including the late Professor Phan Huy Le – the first Dean of the Faculty, along with esteemed professors and associate professors such as Professor Nguyen Van Hong, Professor Luong Ninh, Associate Professor Nguyen Quoc Hung, and Associate Professor Do Thu Ha.
From one journey to a thousand footprintsOver the past 30 years, the Faculty of Oriental Studies has become a prestigious training institution with some of the highest entrance exam scores nationwide. In particular, the Faculty has built a wide network of collaborations with reputable universities in India, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, China, and Thailand, maintaining a clean, united, and distinctive academic environment. To mark this significant 30th anniversary, the Faculty of Oriental Studies was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training and a Certificate of Accreditation for its Southeast Asian Studies and Japanese Studies programs.

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the Faculty, expressed his hope that the Faculty would continue to promote the internationalization of its training programs to create more opportunities for international exchange and internships, so that "every student of Oriental Studies will have at least one opportunity to visit the country where they conduct their research." In addition, he emphasized the need to increase international cooperation projects and publications to contribute to training a team of outstanding regional studies experts with strong cultural backgrounds and the capacity for deep integration.
Professor Mai Ngoc Chu's speech, delivered by one of the founders of the Faculty, expressed profound pride in the "brand of Oriental Studies" while conveying a message of maintaining identity, continuing to innovate to meet societal needs, and making practical contributions to the country.
Looking towards the future: "Confident integration – Steadfastness to reach further"The 30th anniversary of its founding is not only an occasion to express gratitude but also a milestone for the Faculty to define a new vision in the context of Asia continuing to be the center of development in the 21st century. With a current staff of 34 lecturers and nearly 1,000 students, the Faculty of Oriental Studies aims to continue to cultivate and maintain its position as one of the pioneering units in regional studies training and international cooperation in Vietnam in the new era.
The ceremony concluded in a solemn and warm atmosphere, opening a new chapter in the development journey of the Department of Oriental Studies - where knowledge, culture, and the spirit of the East continue to be strongly disseminated.
