The exam attracted 120 foreign candidates, including students under government agreements, students studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and member universities of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and independent candidates. The candidates came from many countries such as the UK, Poland, Hungary, Cuba, China, Laos, South Korea, Russia, Japan, Ukraine, Australia, Bulgaria, Germany, Mongolia, North Korea, etc.

The examination board inspects the technical aspects of the examination room.

Candidates arrived early to complete the registration procedures.
The exam was conducted in accordance with Circular 09/2026/TT-BGDDT on the organization of foreign language proficiency assessment exams and Vietnamese language proficiency assessment exams. The exam consists of four skills: Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Speaking. Candidates took the Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, and Writing tests on computers. For the Speaking test, candidates took a direct test with an instructor in a separate examination room.
The Listening Comprehension test consists of four parts: Part 1 - Candidates listen to a question or situation and then choose the correct answer; Parts 2, 3, and 4 - Candidates listen to a dialogue or text and then choose the correct answer.
The Reading Comprehension test consists of 40 questions; candidates read the following excerpts and then choose the correct answer.
The Writing skills test consists of three parts: Fill in the blanks; Reply to a letter; Write an essay.
The Speaking test consists of three parts: Answering questions; Discussing and choosing one of the given options; and Speaking about a given general or academic topic, using provided ideas or developing their own.
This is the second exam of 2026 organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The remaining two exams will be held in September and December 2026.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has a 60-year tradition of training Vietnamese language skills for foreigners and is one of the few official institutions assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to organize the Vietnamese language proficiency assessment exam for foreigners.
Since 2023, VNU-USSH has for the first time introduced a set of assessment standards and test questions for evaluating Vietnamese language proficiency for international students on a computer-based system. Organizing Vietnamese language proficiency assessments for foreigners using a computer-based format will make the assessment process more comprehensive, flexible, and adaptable, creating more favorable conditions for those wishing to participate in the assessment.
