On the evening of July 4th, the closing ceremony of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV) was successfully held, concluding a week of vibrant activities for this major summer film event in Vietnam. DANAFF IV 2026 brought together 102 films from around the world, with approximately 200 screenings and the participation of over 1,000 delegates, artists, filmmakers, film experts, and international guests. This was an opportunity for filmmakers to meet, exchange ideas, and learn from each other, as well as a chance for Vietnamese audiences to access diverse films in terms of style and content.
In that academically and practically rich cinematic space, lecturers and students of the Film and Popular Arts Training Program, Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, actively participated and left many lasting impressions. The "Humanities Film Delegation" accompanied the event throughout with enthusiasm, dynamism, and responsibility, comprising 3 staff members, over 80 students from cohorts K69 and K70 of the Film and Popular Arts Training Program, and members of the Film Club.

The lecturers at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities possess high professional competence in domestic and international film issues.
At DANAFF IV, lecturers from the Film Department and the Faculty of Literature were invited by the Organizing Committee to take on many important roles in professional events. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Cam Giang was a member of the Critics' Jury and also a speaker at the seminar "The Face of Vietnamese Cinema in the Renovation Era".
In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Ngoc Kien contributed an author to the conference "Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology and Intellectual Property Protection in Cinema," and also assisted in introducing films at screenings. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich served as the Scientific Secretary for three conferences and Master Classes within the framework of the Film Festival.
These roles demonstrate the professional competence, academic prestige, and practical involvement of USSH faculty in important issues of Vietnamese cinema. From the face of Vietnamese cinema during the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, the impact of artificial intelligence and digital technology, to the issue of protecting intellectual property in cinema, faculty members in the Film and Popular Arts department have contributed to in-depth discussions, linking research, criticism, and practical development of the industry.

Faculty members from the Literature Department participated in the activities of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival.
Opportunities for practical experience for students majoring in Film and Popular Arts.
Beyond showcasing the expertise of its faculty, DANAFF IV also provided a valuable practical environment for students majoring in Film and Popular Arts. Volunteer teams, students, and the Film Club enthusiastically supported the festival's activities. Students undertook diverse tasks, including coordinating film screenings, assisting with interactions with film crews, press conferences, and participating in thematic workshops such as "The Face of Vietnamese Cinema in the Renovation Era," "Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology, and Intellectual Property Protection in Film," and the "DANAFF Industry Talks" panel discussion.

The volunteers also excelled in their roles in talent training programs, film industry networking, and logistical and media tasks to spread awareness of the event. Beyond their support roles, the participating students actively attended events as audience members, listening to and learning from industry experts.
Through this series of activities, students from cohorts K69 and K70, along with the Film Club, have demonstrated the dynamic and creative spirit of humanities students, while also having the opportunity to observe, experience, and directly participate in the world of cinema. This is one of the outstanding values of the Film and Popular Arts training program: students not only learn in the classroom but are also given the opportunity to access professional, academic, and industry activities in the film industry during their studies.
