The High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities achieved many accomplishments in the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.

On February 2nd, 2020, the Conference summarizing the training work of the first semester and the enrollment plan for 2021 was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, chaired by Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector in charge of the University). The meeting was attended by representatives from the leadership of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities and various departments and functional units of the University.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities - presented a summary report on the training work for the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities has 5 classes: a specialized Literature class, a specialized Geography class, a specialized History class, and 2 high-quality classes.

The High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities implements a teaching and learning program that closely follows the curriculum and schedule of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. From the outset, the school has organized fair assessment exams in five subjects: Literature, Mathematics, English, History, and Geography to survey and classify student quality. The school organizes specialized subject lessons for students in specialized classes to achieve the best teaching quality. The school has also organized preparatory classes for subjects with students participating in the gifted student competition, such as Literature, History, Geography, and English. The High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities is a pioneer in introducing Hanoi Studies into its curriculum, a subject that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will pilot in schools in the coming academic year. In addition, the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities has implemented cooperative development activities, such as participating in the 13th Scientific Conference of Specialized High Schools in the Coastal and Northern Delta regions. The school has signed cooperation agreements with organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally, providing support in the form of books, materials, and learning equipment, helping students have a modern learning environment that serves their comprehensive educational needs, especially in foreign languages, skills, and integration capabilities. In addition, the school offers a second foreign language program (German) within the framework of cooperation with the Goethe Institute, and a joint research project between students from the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities and students from the National Junior College (NJC) in Singapore.

Regarding admissions, Dr. Hoang Van Quynh - Deputy Head of the Training Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - reviewed the 2020 admissions process and presented the 2021 admissions plans for the Specialized High School.

The school has agreed on the following points for the 2021-2022 academic year: Basically, the admissions process remains unchanged compared to 2020. The allocated quota of 150 students will be distributed among the Literature, History, Geography specialized classes and the high-quality program.

  1. The enrollment quota for 2021 is 150 students (an increase of 30 students compared to 2020); specifically, the allocation is as follows: Literature: 60 students; Geography: 30 students; History: 30 students.
  2. The admissions plan is expected to be announced in late March and early April, and the entrance exam is scheduled for the end of May 2021.
  3. The time allotted for the Mathematics exam has been adjusted from 60 minutes to 90 minutes.
  4. The admission criteria, admission methods, and general activities are basically based on the 2020 Admission Plan.
  5. The school will pay attention to and make timely adjustments to its facilities in the near future.

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector in charge of the school, highly appreciated the achievements of both teachers and students of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities in the past period. He hoped that the school would continue to develop and build a brand for the social sciences and humanities sector, becoming a reliable place for parents and students to choose.

Given the unpredictable nature of the Covid-19 pandemic, the school and its teachers have made preparations for online teaching and learning to ensure effective disease prevention and teaching throughout the 2021 academic year.
