Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong stated that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) has a long-standing tradition and a leading position in research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. Currently, the university has 16 faculties/departments, one training institute with 107 training programs from bachelor's to doctoral levels. Notably, USSH has one key research center and four strong research groups at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), which are core research units that significantly contribute to affirming the university's position in scientific research and high-quality human resources. The Institute for Policy and Management (IPAM) of the University is a key research center at the VNU level – training many policymakers and implementing numerous research and policy development programs for the Vietnamese National Assembly, aiming for a combination of training and research.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is pursuing its strategic development goals as a research university, continuing to affirm its leading position in research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, aiming to be among the top 100 universities in the continent by 2035 and on par with advanced universities (among the top 500) in the world. The university always prioritizes and promotes research cooperation and development projects with partners and scientific institutions both domestically and internationally, attracting international experts and scientists to lecture, present scientific papers, attend conferences, and conduct research activities.
In discussions with representatives attending the meeting, Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong affirmed that, given the close relationship and similarities in research cooperation in the fields of sociology and social work, this will be a foundation for the two universities to enhance academic exchange, faculty exchange, improve training quality, and bring the scientific reports of both universities to a wider audience. According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong, following the success of the conference "Making a Difference - Barrier-Free Social Work: Towards Sustainable Development and Emergency Response" - which attracted 150 Vietnamese scholars and over 90 scholars from 22 countries worldwide - participating partners should aim to bring the conference results to the world, apply theories and research findings, and create positive changes for societies in their respective countries and globally.

During the meeting, Professor Eric Chui expressed his gratitude to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for successfully organizing the workshop "Making a Difference - Barrier-Free Social Work: Towards Sustainable Development and Emergency Response" on August 1st and 2nd, 2023. The workshop was highly regarded by experts and scholars interested in the field of social work, with 50 full papers presented, including 28 papers from international scholars and 22 papers from Vietnamese scholars.

The signing of the cooperation agreement between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and PolyU will promote opportunities for students from both universities to exchange and learn about knowledge, society, and culture in Vietnam and China. Accordingly, as one of the important partners of many newspapers and publishers in China and around the world, Hong Kong Polytechnic University will cooperate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to bring the conference report to a wider audience, enhancing the practical application of social work and contributing to a sustainable society.

On the same day, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong also held a meeting with Professor Dr. Mona Khoury, Vice President of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, regarding the workshop and future opportunities for cooperation and exchange. Professor Dr. Mona Khoury shared that the seminar served to orient, affirm, and enhance the value and importance of social work in Vietnam and worldwide. As two key institutions for training and research in social sciences and humanities, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Hebrew University of Jerusalem will jointly design innovative, relevant, and highly practical courses to facilitate future cooperation in faculty and student exchange.
