Attending the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement were distinguished guests including Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi - Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Professor Annamaria Campanini - President of the International Association of Social Work Schools; Professor Jowima Ang-Reyes - Vice President of the Asia Pacific Association of Social Work Training; Dr. Nguyen Hai Huu - Vice President of the Association of Vocational Education and Social Work Professions, President of the Association of Social Work Training Schools, along with delegates from social work associations of countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, etc.
Representing Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China were Professor Eric Chui, Head of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences; Professor Ku Hok Bun, Director of the Center for China Studies and Global Development Network, and other members.
Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector, along with leaders of training units and functional departments.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by scholars, experts, and researchers from universities, research institutes, and social organizations in 22 countries, including China, Italy, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Israel, Laos, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, the United Kingdom, India, Albania, Uganda, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Egypt, Zambia, Somalia, South Korea, and Vietnam.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, highly appreciated the cooperation activities of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China, in the field of social work.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, emphasized that with its pioneering mission in training and research in social work in Vietnam, the University places special emphasis on investing in the development of the social work field. VNU-USSH always strengthens international cooperation and collaborates with international experts in this field to enhance the training of high-quality human resources for the social work sector, contributing to the creation of a sustainable society. The cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China, with a focus on social work cooperation, marks a new stage of development for the social work sector at VNU-USSH in particular and Vietnam in general.

Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Professor Dr. Eric Chui - Head of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China, signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities.
Accordingly, the two universities share many similarities in potential areas of cooperation, such as scientific research in the field of social work in Vietnam and ASEAN, and organizing international conferences in this field. In particular, the two institutions will implement student exchange programs, internships, and summer camps for students from both universities. This will be an opportunity for students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, to interact and learn from international students, and for students from Hong Kong Polytechnic University to learn about Vietnamese culture and study at VNU-USSH.
Following the signing ceremony, the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, collaborated with partner organizations to hold an international conference on the theme “Making a Difference - Barrier-Free Social Work: Towards Sustainable Development and Emergency Response”. The conference attracted 150 Vietnamese scholars and over 90 scholars from 22 countries worldwide.
