Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU shared: IRD and VNU - USSH have had successful cooperation over the years in student scholarship activities, publishing programs and training cooperation. The achievements have affirmed that IRD has a particularly important position and is a strategic partner of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
With the mission of being a pioneer in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; researching, creating and disseminating knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities, the University always attaches importance to expanding cooperation with international educational and research organizations and prestigious scientists in the world. Currently, the University's scientific human resources have great potential in international research and training cooperation activities, with about 70% of lecturers holding a PhD degree and over 27% of lecturers holding the title of Professor, Associate Professor out of a total of nearly 600 staff and lecturers. Among them, many scientists are leading experts in the field of social sciences and humanities research nationwide. In 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has 01 key research center and 04 strong research groups that continue to be recognized by VNU as strong research groups at the level of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This is a recognition and worthy investment policy for the contributions of VNU-USSH's scientific and technological research units.
According to President Hoang Anh Tuan, cooperation with international universities and research institutes around the world is evidence of the transformation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities towards internationalization. Therefore, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always appreciates the support of IRD in recent years, aiming to build a solid, effective and sustainable foundation for cooperation.

Dr. Valérie Verdier welcomed the bilateral cooperation between the USSH and the Institute for Development Studies. According to her, one of the factors contributing to the success of the cooperation is the similarity between IRD and VNU – USSH. The Institute for Development Studies includes many different research units, in which the fields of social and humanities research are particularly focused. Dr. Valérie Verdier emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation with the USSH, aiming to promote publishing and research on global issues such as climate change, migration and illegal human trafficking – strengths in research of the USSH, VNU.



According to the representative of the Institute for Development Studies, up to now, IRD and VNU-USSH have successfully organized 3 important research projects, implemented many training courses on education and academics. In addition, IRD also supports VNU-USSH in implementing and organizing many scientific research activities, granting scholarships and supporting field research.
At the end of the signing ceremony, the two sides agreed to promote research and publishing activities, organize many field programs for students, bring a new and broader perspective on global issues and challenges, and seek creative and practical solutions. In addition, this is also an opportunity to promote student and faculty exchanges between IRD and VNU – USSH in particular, France and Vietnam in general.
