Strengthening scientific cooperation and personnel training with partners in Taiwan (China).

Within the framework of the international conference "Vietnamese and Chinese Culture and Literature in the Digital Age Context," held on April 1-2, the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, chaired two meetings with delegations from National Tung Hwa University and the Association for Chinese Culture and Literature Studies of Taiwan (China). Also present were representatives from various functional departments, the Center for Chinese Studies, and the Faculty of Literature.
Attending the working session on April 1st, on behalf of National Donghua University were Professor Dr. Ngo Quan Hoanh, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with professors, research experts, heads of the Departments of Chinese Language and Literature; Mandarin Literature; English and American Literature; Taiwanese Cultural Studies; the Director of the Center for Chinese Language Studies; the Director of the Center for Hong Studies Research; and the Director of the Center for Modern Chinese Civilization Studies of National Donghua University.
During the working session on April 2nd, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was pleased to welcome the delegation from the Association for the Study of Chinese Culture and Literature of Taiwan (China), led by Professor Dr. Tran Ich Nguyen - President of the Association, along with professors and experts researching Chinese culture and literature from universities and research institutes that are members of the Association.
Speaking at the two working sessions, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed his sincere gratitude to the delegation of scientists for their time, attention, and support for the University's professional activities at the "Vietnamese and Chinese Culture and Literature in the Digital Age Context" conference held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The conference provided an opportunity for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with the delegation from National Tung Hwa University and the Association for Chinese Culture and Literature Studies in Taiwan, to directly and more deeply exchange views on aspects of cooperation in training, scientific research, and staff training and development. This is not the first time the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had cooperative relations with Taiwanese partners, but previously, cooperation between the two sides had only occurred through personal contacts between scientists. From this working session onwards, the bilateral cooperation relationship will begin to be implemented systematically and comprehensively, thus expecting many breakthroughs in cooperation results.
During the meeting with the delegation from National Donghua University, Professor Wu Guanheng, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities and Head of the delegation, introduced the history, research areas, training programs, and strengths of the university. He also emphasized the similarities in organizational models and training programs between the two universities, highlighting the significant potential for cooperation. Following the meeting, cooperation was agreed upon in several areas, including strengthening student and faculty exchange programs, coordinating academic activities such as seminars and conferences, and focusing on publishing scientific research in the journals of both universities. National Donghua University is currently ranked 401-600 among the most influential universities in 2022 according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. The Dong Hwa Journal of Chinese Studies is one of Taiwan's prestigious scientific journals in the field of Chinese literature, history, and philosophy. National Dong Hwa University is also a university with a strong focus on training English language teachers at all levels, and is the first university in Taiwan to have a completely English-language education system from elementary and secondary school to undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Following the meeting, cooperation in areas such as scholar exchange, training and development of staff, and international publications were the key areas of agreement between both sides.

During a meeting with the delegation from the Association for Chinese Culture and Literature Studies of Taiwan on April 2nd, Professor Chen Yi-Yuan, President of the Association, stated that the delegation of scholars attending this conference consists of leading professors and experts in the field of research and teaching of Chinese culture and literature in Taiwan. Many members of the delegation are key managers at educational institutions as well as members of the editorial boards of many important scientific journals in the field of social sciences and humanities in Taiwan. The Association for Chinese Culture and Literature Studies is the largest academic association recognized by the Taiwanese government, bringing together leading experts from many universities in Taiwan.
During the meeting, both sides agreed on areas of cooperation related to promoting and introducing Vietnamese culture and literature to Taiwan, aiming to enhance Taiwanese understanding of Vietnam and boost the confidence of Vietnamese people living in Taiwan regarding their national culture. Emphasizing this aspect of cooperation highlights the national responsibility in the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Furthermore, specific scientific cooperation issues such as organizing seminars, workshops, and research camps for young scholars, and coordinating publications between the University's Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities and journals of Taiwanese universities, were also areas of high agreement between the two sides.

Concluding the two working sessions, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan once again thanked the scientists from universities and research institutes in Taiwan for their support and collaboration, and highly appreciated the specific cooperation ideas proposed during the sessions. Both sides agreed to realize the ideas and proposals as soon as possible with the highest level of cooperation effectiveness.
