Strengthening scientific cooperation and staff training with Taiwanese (China) partners

Within the framework of the International Conference “Vietnamese-Chinese Culture and Literature in the Digital Age” held on April 1-2, President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan chaired two meetings with the delegation of National Dong Hwa University and the Association for Research on Chinese Culture and Literature of Taiwan (China). Also attending were representatives of the leaders of the functional departments, the Center for Chinese Studies and the Faculty of Literature.
Attending the meeting on April 1, on behalf of National Dong Hwa University, there were Prof. Dr. Ngo Quan Hoanh, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with professors, research experts, Heads of the Departments of Chinese Language and Literature; Chinese Literature; English and American Literature, Taiwanese Cultural Studies, Director of the Center for Chinese Language, Director of the Center for Hong Studies, Director of the Center for Modern Chinese Civilization Studies of National Dong Hwa University.
During the working session on April 2, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was pleased to receive a delegation from the Association for the Study of Chinese Culture and Literature of Taiwan (China) led by Prof. Dr. Tran Ich Nguyen - President of the Association, along with professors and experts in the study of Chinese culture and literature from universities and research institutes that are members of the Association.
Speaking at the two working sessions, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - sincerely thanked the presence of the team of scientists in the Delegation for their time, attention and support for the professional activities of the University at the Workshop "Vietnamese - Chinese Culture and Literature in the Digital Age" held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Workshop opened up an opportunity for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, together with the Delegation of National Dong Hwa University and the Association for Research on Chinese Culture and Literature in Taiwan, to directly discuss in depth the aspects of cooperation in training, scientific research and training and fostering of staff. This is not the first time that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has cooperated with Taiwanese partners, but previously the cooperative relationships between the two sides only took place through personal contacts of scientists. From this working session, the bilateral cooperation relationship has begun to be implemented systematically and comprehensively, so it is expected that there will be many breakthroughs in cooperation results.
At the working session with the delegation of National Dong Hua University, Prof. Dr. Ngo Quan Hoanh, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Head of the delegation, introduced the history of establishment, research fields, training and strengths of the University, and emphasized that the organizational model and training majors of the two universities have many things in common, so there is a lot of room for cooperation. After the working session, the cooperation contents were agreed on a number of aspects such as promoting cooperation in student exchange, lecturer exchange, coordinating the organization of academic activities such as seminars, workshops and focusing on publishing scientific research in the Journals of the two universities. National Dong Hua University is currently ranked 401-600 in the most influential universities in 2022 according to THE (Times Higher Education) rankings. Dong Hwa Journal of Chinese Studies is one of Taiwan's prestigious scientific journals in the field of research on Chinese literature, history, and philosophy. National Dong Hwa University is also a university with strengths in training staff in the field of English teaching at all levels, and is also the first university in Taiwan to have a training system entirely in English from elementary, secondary to university and postgraduate. After the meeting, the cooperation contents on scholar exchange; training, staff development and international publication are the focuses that both sides reached high consensus on.

During the working session with the delegation of the Taiwan Association for the Study of Chinese Culture and Literature on April 2, Prof. Dr. Tran Ich Nguyen, President of the Association, said that the delegation of scholars attending this conference are all professors and leading experts in the field of research and teaching of Chinese culture and literature in Taiwan. Many members of the delegation are managers holding important positions at training institutions as well as members of the editorial boards of many important scientific journals in the field of social sciences and humanities in Taiwan. The Association for the Study of Chinese Culture and Literature is the largest academic association recognized by the Taiwanese Government, gathering leading experts from many universities in Taiwan.
Also at the meeting, the two sides agreed on the contents of cooperation related to the responsibility of promoting and introducing Vietnamese culture and literature to Taiwan, in order to enhance Taiwanese people's understanding of Vietnam and help Vietnamese people living in Taiwan to be more confident about their national culture. Emphasizing this aspect of cooperation is emphasizing the national responsibility in the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In addition, specific scientific cooperation issues such as organizing seminars, workshops, research camps for young scholars, coordinating publications between the University's Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities and Journals of Taiwanese universities are also contents that reach high consensus between the two sides.

Concluding the two working sessions, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan once again thanked the scientists from Taiwanese universities and research institutes for their support and companionship, and highly appreciated the specific cooperation ideas proposed during the working session. Both sides agreed to realize the ideas and proposals as soon as possible with the highest cooperation efficiency.
