Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the university, Ms. Nguyen Minh Nguyet - Deputy Head of the Cooperation and Development Department, and representatives from the Research Management Department and the Communication and Information Technology Center.
Representing the PHER project were Professor Tran Ngoc Anh - Chair of USAID projects at Indiana University (USA) in Vietnam, Mr. Richard Hopper - Director of the PHER Project, and other project experts.
Representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the PHER Project discussed various cooperation issues in enhancing the research capacity and international publication of the university's faculty.
During the meeting, representatives from both organizations discussed opportunities for cooperation and strengthening the university-business relationship, including: career guidance, alumni associations; innovation and creativity; and business networking.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, said that the university is very keen to develop cooperative activities with the PHER Project. Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, agreed on many ideas for implementing activities to support lecturers within the framework of cooperation with PHER.
Professor Tran Ngoc Anh and Mr. Richard Hopper discussed during a working session with representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi. According to Professor Tran Ngoc Anh, with the desire to promote cooperation in the fields of social sciences and humanities, especially in Anthropology, the PHER Project has chosen the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - a prestigious university in Vietnam in this field. Continuing the collaborative activities between PHER and Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the project will support lecturers in improving their research capacity and publishing internationally in ISI and SCOPUS formats.
As a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research university with a team of leading experts, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) has developed several new and pioneering training programs and majors, playing a core role in training and research in the country's basic sciences, reaching regional and international standards. USSH scientists have conducted many important studies in the social sciences and humanities, with valuable scientific publications both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the cooperation with PHER will contribute to leveraging the university's strengths and strongly promoting the international research capacity of USSH scientists in the future.

The PHER project is part of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Higher Education Development Support Program, a five-year initiative from 2022 to 2026 aimed at enhancing the capacity of three key Vietnamese higher education institutions (Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and Da Nang University) to develop sustainably and more autonomously in the areas of governance, training, research, and business connectivity, meeting the human resource needs for Vietnam's industrialization, modernization, and international integration. The project is funded by USAID through a non-refundable technical assistance grant and implemented by Indiana University, USA.
