Invitation to the Official Launch Ceremony of the “Bun-Vietnamese Dictionary”

On April 12, 2023, the official launch ceremony of the "Bulgarian-Vietnamese Dictionary" will be held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The dictionary is a collaborative product between scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Veliko Tarnovo University (Bulgaria) within the framework of an official development assistance project of the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria through the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (represented by the Bulgarian Embassy) entitled: "Enhancing the quality of foreign language learning through the modernization of foreign language teaching tools". The compilers for the first edition of the Bulgarian-Vietnamese dictionary were Le Quang Thiem, Han Van Khan, and Hoang Nam; the editors responsible for the second edition, with its revisions and fundamental additions, are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa and Corresponding Member, Prof. Dr. Stoyan Burov.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by Ms. Marinela Milcheva Petkova - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam; Professor Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; representatives of the Bulgaria-Vietnam Friendship Association; the authors from Veliko Tarnovo University (Bulgaria) and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; scientists from the Institute of Linguistics, the Vietnam Linguistics Association, and the Vietnam Institute of Dictionaries and Encyclopedias; and representatives of press and media agencies.
 
The official launch ceremony marks the first time a dictionary of a non-common language has been revised, supplemented, and reprinted in Vietnam since its initial publication in 1984. As part of the ceremony, the organizers will also hold a Q&A session between the authors and experts from Bulgaria and Vietnam, as well as with the authors of the first edition. This session will provide an opportunity for the authors and experts to share their experiences in compiling and modernizing the dictionary. The Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam will also share information and opportunities for scholarships and exchange programs in Bulgaria for Vietnamese officials and students.
“Enhancing the quality of foreign language learning through the modernization of foreign language teaching tools” is a highly significant collaborative project undertaken by scientists from Bulgaria and Vietnam. It not only contributes to improving the research, teaching, and training capabilities in Bulgarian and Vietnamese languages ​​for lecturers, researchers, and students in both countries, but also strengthens bilateral educational and cultural relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam in general.
