University of Social Sciences and Humanities promotes cooperation with Gyeongkuk National University, Korea

On the afternoon of August 29, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) had a meeting and worked with representatives of the leadership of Andong National University (now Gyeongkuk National University, Korea).
At the meeting, the representative of Gyeongkuk National University, Prof. Dr. Sung Jong-hyun - Director of the Center for Innovation in Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized the previous cooperation results between the two schools, and expressed the desire to expand cooperation, towards more practical programs. With the common point of both schools having strengths in the field of social sciences, Gyeongkuk National University proposed to implement student exchange programs according to the 2+2 model, as well as increase scholarship opportunities for VNU-USSH students.
In particular, the representative of Gyeongkuk National University expressed his desire to establish a Korean Language Exchange Office at VNU-USSH, thereby organizing many rich activities to promote Korean language teaching and learning and expand opportunities for students to access study in Korea. Mr. Sung Jong-hyun also shared his experience from opening the Korean Cultural Center at the University of the East, Uzbekistan, and hoped to implement a similar model at VNU-USSH.
Representing the VNU-USSH leadership, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal of the School, welcomed the cooperation proposals from Gyeongkuk National University, especially in the field of student exchange and scholarships. Regarding the plan to establish a Korean Language Exchange Office, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong affirmed that this is a meaningful and necessary direction, and emphasized that the two sides will continue to discuss specifically to agree on the direction and implementation roadmap, thereby contributing to promoting the effectiveness and sustainability of teaching and learning Korean at VNU-USSH.
Gyeongkuk National University, formerly Andong National University (ANU), was founded in 1947 in Andong city – the spiritual and cultural center of Korea. ANU is a key public university with the mission of preserving and promoting cultural heritage while training high-quality human resources.
