Successful completion of the Vietnamica ProjectOver the past 5 years, through the Vietnamica project, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has utilized resources to serve postgraduate training in the fields of Han Nom, Archaeology, History, and Heritage. Within the framework of the Vietnamica funding program, there are 12 master students, 04 doctoral students and 03 postdoctoral researchers implementing theses, dissertations and research projects, of which the University has 07 students, 01 doctoral student and 01 postdoctoral researcher.
In particular, quality theses and dissertations are edited and published by Vietnamica within the framework of the Project to support young researchers in developing sustainable expertise and disseminating new knowledge to the academic community.
Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Dang Hong Son spoke about the results and directions for continuing to promote cooperation in postgraduate training at the Vietnamica Project Summary Conference, held on September 4 at the French School of the Far East (EFEO) in Paris, France.
Along with the postgraduate training component, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has also coordinated with the Vietnamica Project and the Institute of Han Nom Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) to organize in-depth research activities on steles. To date, dozens of research books on ancient Vietnamese steles have been published; dozens of manuscripts are being completed for publication in the near future.

EFEO – USSH promotes archaeological researchOn September 4, 2025, Director of the French School of the Far East, Professor Nicolas Fiévé chaired a working session with Principal Hoang Anh Tuan to agree on a comprehensive cooperation plan for the 2025 - 2030 period.
Accordingly, the two sides agreed to sign a comprehensive cooperation document to bring the bilateral relationship to a new level. EFEO and USSH will organize research and publishing activities on archaeology in particular, and social sciences and humanities in general. USSH will receive French experts to teach and research periodically at the School; EFEO supports USSH in training a team of young experts on archaeology, especially on non-common ancient languages such as Latin, Pali, Sankit... through short-term and long-term scholarship programs in Paris (France), Pondichery (India), Jakarta (Indonesia), Chiangmai (Thailand)... In the immediate future, the two sides will coordinate to exploit, digitize, preserve, research... towards organizing an international conference and publication on Champa inscriptions in early 2026.

Visit and work at the French AcademyDuring their working time in Paris, the delegation of the School visited and worked at the French Academy. Here, the delegation was introduced by the Permanent President of the Institute of Inscriptions and Fine Arts about the history and organizational structure of the French Academy, as well as the Institute's interests and research on Vietnam and Indochina. The delegation also visited and was introduced to the place where Professor Phan Huy Le used to work when he was appointed as an Academician of the Foreign Correspondence Institute of the French Academy.

EPHE - USSH strengthen cooperation in applying technology in researchDiscussing the potential for cooperation between the two units, Director of the French Institute for Advanced Study (EPHE), Professor Michel Hochmann shared about the orientation to increase support for the School in applying technology to research. In particular, new technology platforms and software in social sciences and humanities research can be effective in archaeology and philology research at USSH.
In the immediate future, the two units will discuss to seek a joint research project, through which EPHE can support experts to enhance technology transfer into social sciences and humanities research in Vietnam.

Aix Marseille - USSH cooperates in master's training Digital ArchivesWelcoming the leaders of the School, the leaders of Aix Marseille University, Professor Guy Le Thiec spent a lot of time in the meeting to discuss with Professor Hoang Anh Tuan about the history of research cooperation between the two sides and the prospects for future training cooperation. Professor Guy Le Thiec committed to supporting USSH to successfully implement the Digital Archives master training program in the near future.
Accordingly, Aix Marseille University will send experts to Hanoi to teach and guide with the school's lecturers, grant scholarships for students to do internships and complete their theses at Aix Marseille, and continue to provide funding for USSH lecturers to attend professional training courses and academic exchanges at Aix Marseille University in the fields of archives, heritage, culture, history, etc.

ANOM - USSH promotes the project of Vietnamese Cultural Documentation overseasWithin the framework of the working program, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan and Vice Principal Dang Hong Son visited and worked at the French Overseas Archives (ANOM) to promote the project of collecting and researching Vietnamese cultural documents abroad of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Director of ANOM, Mr. Romain Joulia highly appreciated the significance of the project that the School is implementing, committed to providing maximum support so that the School can exploit the French documents related to Vietnam currently being preserved at ANOM, and is ready to support Aix Marseille - USSH in implementing the Digital Archive training project.
