The ceremony is an opportunity for the school to congratulate and express gratitude, and present awards from VNU to outstanding research units (Key Research Centers and Strong Research Groups at VNU), scientists with outstanding achievements, and to present the School-level Student Scientific Research Award for the 2022-2023 school year.
Attending the ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU; representatives of scientists who are leaders of strong research groups and key research centers at VNU; representatives of leaders of Faculties/Institutes/Centers/Departments/Functional Departments and more than 200 VNU-USSH students.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong, on behalf of the school's Board of Directors, sent warm congratulations and thanks to scientists, experts, teachers representing affiliated Faculties/Departments/Institutes/Centers/Departments, students, postgraduates, and pupils on the occasion of the Vietnam Science and Technology Day celebration on May 18.
“I would also like to send my best wishes and gratitude to the respected teachers who have laid the foundation and contributed to the school’s science and technology activities in each period. Hopefully, the valuable traditions of science and technology of the school will continue to be inherited and continued by generations of science and technology human resources to create progress in the school’s science and technology roadmap in the coming time” - the school’s Vice Principal shared.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, sent his congratulations and deep gratitude to generations of scientists, teachers and students of the school on the occasion of the traditional day of Vietnam Science and Technology.
At the ceremony, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU congratulated representatives of strong VNU-level research groups, including: Asian Maritime and Trade Research Group, Social Work and Social Security Research Group, Gender, Population and Environment Research Group, Vietnam Politics, Rule of Law and Religion Research Group; and VNU-level Key Research Center, the Institute of Policy & Management.
Previously, VNU decided to award prizes to 02 strong Research Groups: Asia Sea and Trade Group; Social Work and Social Security and Institute of Policy & Management - VNU Key Research Center; awarded prizes to Prof. Dr. Lam Thi My Dung for having articles published in prestigious journals in the top 5% of the industry and field; awarded prizes to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Minh Chau and Dr. Nguyen Thu Trang for their outstanding achievements in scientific research and intellectual property registration in 2021.
Orientation of science and technology development with high quality scientific productsThe Science, Technology & Innovation Strategy (S&I) of Vietnam National University, Hanoi for the period 2021 - 2030 affirms: "S&I is the foundation and driving force for the development of Vietnam National University, Hanoi". Grasping the above reality, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has quickly built the orientation for the development of S&T of the University through the Resolution on developing high-quality scientific products, high-quality policy advice on social sciences and humanities, support and promotion policies for international publications, policies to encourage the scientific human resources of the University in general and key investment policies for student scientific research in particular.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong said that the School has proactively approached and consulted with management agencies, domestic and international organizations, localities, enterprises, investment/funding funds for domestic and international research activities to grasp the needs, build cooperation programs, place annual orders for scientific products, and provide high-quality policy advice on social sciences and humanities in line with practical needs. In addition, the School has provided national policy advice in conjunction with the functions of the Policy Advisory Council, the Institute of Policy and Management, research centers, and strong research groups.
Therefore, the results of the University's scientific and technological activities in recent years have achieved remarkable results, the research capacity of the teaching staff and researchers has been improved, and the participation of students and postgraduates in the University's scientific and technological research and cooperation programs has been increased. In particular, in 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had 04 strong research groups and 01 VNU-level key research center that were further recognized.
Innovation in student research activities: focused investment and depthWith the goal of truly spreading student scientific research activities, attracting more and more students to participate in scientific research and innovation activities, in order to strengthen the connection between student scientific research activities and the scientific research orientation of the University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had policies to encourage and support student scientific research activities, notably the investment policy for 21 key scientific research projects of students in the 2022-2023 school year.
Up to now, all key investment projects have completed the product of Research Results Report and some projects have had articles published or confirmed to be published in specialized journals, contributing to increasing the number of domestic articles of the School.


The Student Scientific Research Award is an annual award that is well received and responded to by students. In the 2022-2023 school year, the award has yielded many "sweet fruits", affirming the seriousness and passion of students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU for scientific research activities. After more than 5 months of launching and implementing the program, the total number of participating students was 939 students with 552 projects, of which 212 projects won awards at the Faculty/Department level. In the final round, 20 projects won First Prize, 40 projects won Second Prize, and 17 projects won Third Prize. Many scientific and applied research projects were highly appreciated by the Council.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong shared his joy at the achievements of scientific research activities and hoped that the scientific, technological and innovative results of the teachers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU will not only stop at research published domestically, but also reach international level, integrating with the regional and world scientific community.
