Key investments and innovations in the science, technology, and innovation strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

On May 18, 2023, the Celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day was solemnly held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH).
The ceremony was an opportunity for the university to congratulate and express gratitude, and to present awards from Vietnam National University, Hanoi to outstanding research units (Key Research Centers and strong Research Groups at the VNU level), scientists with outstanding achievements, and to award the University-level Student Scientific Research Prize for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Attending the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi; representatives of scientists who are heads of strong research groups and key research centers at VNU Hanoi; representatives of the leadership of Faculties/Institutes/Centers/Departments/Functional Offices, along with more than 200 VNU-USSH students.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong, on behalf of the school's Board of Directors, extended warm congratulations and thanks to the scientists, experts, faculty members representing the Faculties/Departments/Institutes/Centers/Sub-departments, students, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students on the occasion of the Vietnamese Science and Technology Day on May 18th.
“I would also like to extend my best wishes and gratitude to the esteemed teachers, those who laid the foundation and contributed to the school's science and technology activities throughout the years. I hope that the valuable traditions of science and technology of the school will continue to be inherited and carried on by future generations of science and technology personnel to create further advancements in the school's science and technology development in the future,” shared the Vice Rector of the school.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, extends his congratulations and profound gratitude to all generations of scientists, teachers, and students of the university on the occasion of Vietnam Science and Technology Day.
At the ceremony, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, congratulated representatives of the strong VNU Hanoi-level research groups, including: the Asian Maritime and Trade Research Group, the Social Work and Social Security Research Group, the Gender, Population and Environment Research Group, the Vietnamese Politics, Rule of Law and Religion Research Group; and the VNU Hanoi-level Key Research Center, the Institute of Policy & Management.
Previously, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) issued a decision to award commendations to two strong research groups: the Asian Maritime and Trade group; the Social Work and Social Security group; and the Institute of Policy & Management - a key research center at VNU level. It also awarded commendations to Prof. Dr. Lam Thi My Dung for having a paper published in a prestigious journal in the top 5% of its field; and to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Minh Chau and Dr. Nguyen Thu Trang for their outstanding achievements in scientific research and intellectual property registration in 2021.
 
 
 
 

Orienting the development of science and technology towards high-quality scientific products.
The Science, Technology & Innovation Strategy of Vietnam National University, Hanoi for the period 2021-2030 affirms: "Science, Technology & Innovation are the foundation and driving force for the development of Vietnam National University, Hanoi." Recognizing this reality, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has quickly developed its science and technology development orientation through a Resolution on developing high-quality scientific products, providing high-quality policy advice on social sciences and humanities, policies to support and foster international publications, policies to encourage scientific human resources in general, and key investment policies for student research in particular.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong stated that the university has proactively approached and consulted with management agencies, domestic and international organizations, localities, businesses, and investment/funding funds for research activities both domestically and internationally to understand needs and develop cooperation programs, placing annual orders for high-quality scientific products and policy advice in social sciences and humanities linked to practical needs. In addition, the university has provided national policy advice in line with the functions of the Policy Advisory Council, the Institute of Policy and Management, research centers, and strong research groups.
Therefore, the University's science and technology activities in recent years have achieved significant results, the research capacity of lecturers and researchers has been enhanced, and the participation of students and doctoral candidates in the University's science and technology research and cooperation programs has been strengthened. In particular, in 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had 4 strong research groups and 1 key research center at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, that were re-recognized.

Innovation in student research activities: targeted and in-depth investment.
With the goal of truly spreading student scientific research activities, attracting more and more students to participate in scientific research and innovation activities, and strengthening the connection between student scientific research activities and the university's scientific research orientation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has implemented policies to encourage and support student scientific research activities, notably investing in 21 key student scientific research projects in the 2022-2023 academic year.
To date, all key investment projects have completed their research reports, and some projects have had articles published or confirmed for publication in specialized journals, contributing to an increase in the number of domestic publications of the University.
 

The Student Scientific Research Award is an annual award that is strongly embraced and supported by students. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the award yielded many successful results, affirming the seriousness and passion of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, for scientific research activities. After more than 5 months of launching and implementing the program, a total of 939 students participated with 552 projects, of which 212 projects won awards at the Faculty/Department level. In the final round, 20 projects won first prize, 40 projects won second prize, and 17 projects won third prize. Many research projects with high scientific and practical value were highly appreciated by the judging panel.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong shared his joy at the achievements of scientific research activities and hoped that the scientific, technological, and innovative results of the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, would not only be limited to research published domestically, but would also reach international levels, integrating with the regional and global scientific community.
