During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong stated that, with a history and tradition of nearly 80 years of development, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi has affirmed its position as a leading university in Vietnam in research and teaching in the field of social sciences and has made many important marks in world university rankings. The university has established many strategic cooperation relationships and signed agreements with many prestigious international universities and organizations, including more than 60 renowned universities and major research institutes in China, spanning cities such as Guangdong, Yunnan, Shanghai, etc.
The meeting was attended by leaders of units under the school.
Regarding cooperation in education and training, in the last five years alone, the university has received approximately 800 international students from China. In 2023, nearly 200 Chinese students were participating in courses on Vietnamese language and culture organized by the Faculty of Linguistics, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, while also studying and researching in specialized faculties such as Literature, History, Sociology, and International Studies. These impressive achievements are due to maintaining the quality of traditional collaborative training programs such as 2+2, 3+1, 3.5+0.5, etc., while also focusing on developing new, attractive teaching approaches with flexible schedules and curricula suitable for a wide range of students. In particular, in 2023, the school developed many short-term training programs with diverse topics and content, ready to welcome international students in general and Chinese students in particular to study and experience.
In the field of scientific research, with over 70% of faculty holding doctoral degrees and 27% holding associate professorships or higher, out of nearly 600 faculty members, many of whom are leading experts in the field of social sciences and humanities, the university has collaborated with numerous partners from China to organize many research projects of mutual interest, as well as international scientific conferences and publications of research products in specialized journals.

In response to the warm welcome from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities during his first visit to Vietnam, Professor Shen Xiangxing, Vice President of the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, expressed his deep gratitude to the university. The delegation from the Academy also highly appreciated the achievements and contributions of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the education and social development of China, and was deeply impressed by the university's history and attractiveness to students from China. He stated that the 800 Chinese students studying at the university are clear evidence of the quality of education and the university's extensive relationship with partner universities in China.
The Yunnan Provincial Academy of Social Sciences is a comprehensive provincial-level research institution in social sciences and philosophy, established in 1980 with three key research directions: ethnic and border issues; economic development; and South Asian and Southeast Asian studies. Currently, the Academy has 11 research departments, including the South Asian Studies Department, the Southeast Asian Studies Department, the Ethnology Studies Department, the Sociology Studies Department, the Ethnic Culture Studies Department, the Rural Development Studies Department, the History and Culture Studies Department, the Marx-Lenin Studies Department, the Religious Studies Department, the Philosophy Studies Department, and the Economic Studies Department. The Academy publishes three specialized journals: the "Yunnan Journal of Social Sciences," the "Journal of Southeast Asian and South Asian Studies," and the "Journal of Chinese Geography." Through the exchange process, it is clear that the expectations and directions of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences share striking similarities. Based on this, along with the exchange of students and culture between the two countries, Mr. Shen Xiangxing, Vice President of the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, believes this will be the beginning of long-term cooperation and exchange between the two sides.
Following the working session, representatives from specialized units of both sides engaged in lively discussions on professional knowledge and research directions of mutual interest. Concluding the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong and Prof. Shen Xiangxing agreed to continue discussions and sign a framework cooperation agreement during the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' visit to Yunnan Province in June this year, creating a legal framework for other specific collaborations between the two sides in the future.
