On the afternoon of May 9, 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU was honored to welcome Ms. Oh Youngju - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam; Mr. Choi Jaejin - Chief Representative of the Korea Foundation (Korean Foundation - KF) to visit and work at the University.
On the side of the University, there were the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Principal; Dr. Pham Hoang Hung - Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development; Dr. Le Thi Thu Giang - Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Thuy - Deputy Head of the Faculty of History; Dr. Ngo Tuan Thang - Deputy Head of the Faculty of International Studies; Dr. Luu Tuan Anh - Head of the Department of Korean Studies.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Korea Foundation and leaders of units of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, with its mission of leading in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; researching, creating and disseminating knowledge of Social Sciences and Humanities, is the cradle that nurtures many generations of successful students and alumni, who have held important positions in public and private organizations in Vietnam. Currently, the school has 16 faculties, 01 training institute with 106 training programs from bachelor to doctorate. In which, the Department of Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, is the first unit in the country to organize training and research in Korean Studies. In its nearly 30-year history of operation, the Department of Korean Studies has received much attention and support from government agencies, international organizations, schools and Korean enterprises. The school always values strategic cooperation with Korea in the fields of training, scientific research, and knowledge transfer in the social and humanities fields.
At the meeting, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong respectfully thanked the Korean Embassy, the Korea International Exchange Fund, agencies, organizations and Korean universities... for their cooperation, support and contributions to the overall development of the School. Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong also requested the Ambassador in particular and the Korean Embassy in general to continue to support the School in upcoming activities, acting as a bridge between the School and universities in Korea in the exchange of lecturers and students, academic exchanges...
Ambassador Oh Youngju expressed her honor to visit and exchange at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - a school with a long tradition that has made significant contributions to the development of the Korea - Vietnam relationship. The Ambassador affirmed her desire to cooperate more closely with the School in the coming time, especially in strongly promoting connection activities through the Korea International Exchange Fund.
