Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen The Ky - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Nguyen Khac Ha - Director of the Department of Emulation and Commendation of Ministries, Departments, Central Agencies and Organizations, Central Emulation and Commendation Board; Mr. Ho Quang Loi - Head of the Propaganda Department of the Hanoi City Party Committee, along with representatives of leaders from Ministries, Departments, news agencies, press, and partner units of the Faculty.
Representing VNU Hanoi were Vice Director Nguyen Huu Duc, and leaders from the Office, functional departments, member units, and affiliated organizations of VNU Hanoi.
Opening the ceremony, the Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Dang Thi Thu Huong, stated that the establishment of the Faculty of Journalism in 1990 marked a significant milestone: for the first time, journalism training and research was conducted within a leading university in the social sciences and humanities in Vietnam – Hanoi University (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
From its early days, the Faculty has gathered a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff and lecturers, many of whom are prominent and reputable scientists such as Prof. Ha Minh Duc, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Xuan Son, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Huong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Xuan Ha, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Quang Hao, Prof. Dr. Do Quang Hung, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Giap, Dr. Doan Huong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, Dr. Trinh Ho Khoa…
“The academic knowledge and professional experience of the early professors and doctors laid a solid foundation for the development of the Faculty, helping it to grow rapidly and quickly establish its position within the Social Sciences and Humanities sector of VNU Hanoi,” – the Dean shared.
Currently, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication is one of the two largest journalism and communication training and research institutions in Vietnam, offering three levels of study from bachelor's to doctoral degrees in Journalism. It is also one of the first institutions to collaborate with the University of Stirling (UK) in offering a master's degree in "Media Management". The Faculty is also the only institution in Vietnam that offers both Journalism and Public Relations programs.

Vice Rector of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Nguyen Huu Duc, presented the certificate of commendation from the Rector of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to the Faculty of Journalism and Communication.
Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Dang Thi Thu Huong, proudly stated: “Entering its 25th year, the profound lessons that have brought success to the Faculty today are the spirit of unity, consensus, and close ties among generations of faculty and students; the responsible, dedicated, dynamic, and effective work ethic of the staff and lecturers; the diligent, serious, open-minded, eager-to-learn, and creative efforts of the students and trainees of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication; and the joint support of many forces inside and outside the unit.”
According to the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Nguyen Van Khanh, in order to contribute effectively to the development of education, training, science and technology, first and foremost to promote the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication needs to further build upon its achievements over the past 25 years, constantly striving to develop the Faculty in depth, improve the quality of training and scientific research, develop a highly qualified staff, perfect the curriculum and training programs, and create new, greater and more impressive successes in the future.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen The Ky expressed his delight at the continuous development of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication over the past 25 years. He emphasized that the Faculty's commitment to innovation, improving professional skills, keeping pace with international trends, and simultaneously cultivating the political and ethical qualities of its faculty members in specialized fields like journalism must be a constant, long-term task and a guiding principle. The Faculty's success is affirmed by its graduates, who contribute to the development of the national press. “25 years – a long enough period to assess and acknowledge the encouraging achievements of generations of cadres, reporters, and editors trained at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, many of whom are now mature and holding important leadership and management positions in media organizations such as editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief, and editorial secretary…” – the Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department shared.
On this occasion, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication is honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal, Certificates of Merit from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province.

On May 31, 1990, Minister Tran Hong Quan signed Decision No. 352/KHTV authorizing the opening of a Journalism program at Hanoi University. On June 29, 1990, Minister Tran Hong Quan signed Decision No. 566/TCCB authorizing the establishment of the Faculty of Journalism at Hanoi University. On October 12, 1991, the first course in Journalism commenced at Lecture Hall 19 Le Thanh Tong Street with 160 students. To date, the Faculty has trained over 10,000 full-time and part-time bachelor's degree graduates, along with more than 350 master's and doctoral degree holders. Among them are thousands of reporters, editors, and media professionals for many localities nationwide. Over 100 alumni of the Faculty have won national journalism awards and journalism awards from various sectors and levels. Many alumni of the Faculty are heads or currently hold important positions in press management agencies and media organizations from the central to local levels… |
