Opening the ceremony, Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Dang Thi Thu Huong said that in 1990, the Faculty of Journalism was established, marking an important milestone for the first time, journalism training and research was placed in a leading university in training and research in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam - Hanoi National University (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU).
Since its inception, the Faculty has gathered a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff and lecturers, many of whom are great, famous and prestigious scientists such as Prof. Ha Minh Duc, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Xuan Son, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Huong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Xuan Ha, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Quang Hao, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Quang Hung, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Giap, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Huong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, Dr. Trinh Ho Khoa, etc.
“The academic knowledge and professional experience of the early professors and doctors laid a solid foundation for the development of the Faculty, helping the Faculty to quickly grow and soon affirm its position in the Social Sciences and Humanities sector of VNU” – the Dean of the Faculty shared.
Currently, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication is one of the two largest training and research institutions for journalism and communication in Vietnam, providing three levels of training from bachelor to doctorate in Journalism, and is one of the first institutions to cooperate in training masters in “Media Management” with the University of Stirling (UK). The Faculty is also the only institution in Vietnam to provide training in both majors: Journalism and Public Relations.

Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Dang Thi Thu Huong proudly said: “Entering the age of 25, the profound lesson that brings success to the Faculty today is the spirit of solidarity, unanimity, and attachment of generations of teachers and students of the Faculty, the spirit of responsible, dedicated, dynamic, and effective work of the staff and lecturers, the efforts, seriousness, inquisitiveness, eagerness to learn, and creativity of the students and trainees of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, along with the joint efforts of many forces inside and outside the unit”.
According to the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Nguyen Van Khanh, in order to contribute to the effective implementation of the development policy of education - training, science and technology, first of all, to promote the implementation of the task of fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication needs to further promote the achievements of the past 25 years, constantly strive to build the Faculty to develop in depth, improve the quality of training and scientific research, develop a team of highly qualified staff, perfect the system of textbooks and training programs, creating new and greater and more impressive successes in the coming time.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen The Ky expressed his joy that the Faculty of Journalism and Communication has had continuous development over the past 25 years. The idea of innovation, improving professional qualifications, keeping up with international trends, but at the same time always cultivating political qualities and ethics of teachers in a specialized field such as journalism must be a regular, long-term task and the motto of the Faculty. The success of the Faculty is affirmed through the training products, graduates, contributing to the development of the country's journalism. "25 years - a long enough journey to evaluate and recognize the encouraging achievements of generations of cadres, reporters, and editors trained at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, among whom many are at maturity, assigned to take on important leadership and management positions in press agencies such as editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief, editorial secretary..." - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department shared.
On this occasion, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal, Certificate of Merit from the President of VNU, the Central Propaganda Department, the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province.

On May 31, 1990, Minister Tran Hong Quan signed Decision No. 352/KHTV allowing the opening of the Journalism major at Hanoi University of Science. On June 29, 1990, Minister Tran Hong Quan signed Decision No. 566/TCCB allowing the establishment of the Faculty of Journalism at Hanoi University of Science. On October 12, 1991, the first course of Journalism opened at Lecture Hall 19 Le Thanh Tong with 160 students. To date, the Faculty has trained more than 10,000 full-time and part-time bachelors, and more than 350 masters and doctors. Among them are thousands of reporters, editors, and media staff for many localities across the country. More than 100 alumni of the Faculty have won national journalism awards and journalism awards of various sectors and levels.
