Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri was born into a family with a tradition of patriotism and revolution in Truc Lam commune (Ha Linh), Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province. According to the book...Genealogy of the Ngo family in VietnamHe is the 13th descendant of Duke Ngo Canh Huu and the 11th descendant of Duke Ngo Dang Minh (the temples and tombs of these two figures in Ha Tinh have both been classified as national historical and cultural relics; Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri is currently a permanent member of the Ngo Clan Council of Vietnam). Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri's father was Mr. Ngo Quoc Van (1906-1995), his mother was from the Hoang family (Tung Anh, Duc Tho, Ha Tinh). Mr. Ngo Quoc Van was a communist party member from 1930 and was imprisoned by the colonial authorities in Lao Bao (1931-1938) and Buon Ma Thuot (1942-1945). Mr. Ngo Quoc Van was awarded the Third Class Independence Medal.
Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri belongs to the generation of people who "From school to battlefieldand"From the battlefield back to school"In 1970, he passed the entrance exam to Hanoi University and was assigned to the History Department. In 1972, while in his third year of the 15th cohort (when the university was evacuated to Hiep Hoa, Ha Bac province), he and many friends..."Put aside your pens and ink and go to war."As a party member, squad leader, and then regimental logistics assistant, after participating in the liberation campaigns of Phuoc Long, the Central Highlands, etc., on the morning of April 30, 1975, his unit was on its way to the Cho Gao area (My Tho), Can Duoc, Can Giuoc (Long An), to attack and capture the Y-shaped bridge (Saigon), when the war ended. In August 1976, with the rank of Sergeant, he received his discharge order from the military. From the Dong Thap Muoi region, where his unit was involved in economic development, he returned to Hanoi University to continue his third year of study with students of the 19th cohort of the History Faculty. At the end of 1978, he graduated from university (a four-and-a-half-year program) and was retained by the University as a lecturer in the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, a position he holds to this day.
In 1989, he successfully defended his PhD thesis at the University under the guidance of Professor Dinh Xuan Lam and Associate Professor Le Mau Han. In 2002, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor, in 2008 he was awarded the title of Meritorious Teacher, and in 2012 he was recognized as a Senior Lecturer.
From 1990 to 1996, he served as Deputy Head of the Department; from 1997 to 2005 and from 2009 to the present, he has been the Head of the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Faculty of History. From 2005 to 2009, he was the Deputy Head of the Faculty of History. He has also held many other positions, such as: Chairman of the University's Trade Union, Party Committee Member, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2000-2006); Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (2001-2007). Regardless of his position, he has always been dedicated, diligent, and meticulous in his work, fulfilling all assigned responsibilities well.
For nearly 40 years on the giảng platform, with his scientific enthusiasm, Associate Professor, Doctor, and Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri has passed on his effective teaching experience and scientific research methods to generations of students, graduate students, doctoral candidates, and many colleagues in the field of History in general, and the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam in particular. To date, he has guided hundreds of students, 55 graduate students, and 8 doctoral candidates to successfully defend their theses, dissertations, and doctoral papers on the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam. His dedication to teaching is also evident in his family, all of whom are involved in research and teaching.
Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri has also participated in and chaired numerous scientific conferences in Vietnam, and has attended more than 10 scientific conferences and exchanges abroad. He has chaired and participated in many scientific research projects at various levels, and published over 130 research works (including co-authored works), including more than 50 monographs and textbooks, and more than 80 articles published in specialized scientific journals and conference proceedings both domestically and internationally.

He is always remembered with gratitude and respect by generations of students, graduate students, and researchers as a scientist who often discussed specialized concepts based on Sino-Vietnamese etymology, a dedicated and exemplary teacher with a simple, sincere, and virtuous lifestyle, always empathetic and supportive of his students, but also very strict and appropriate with them in their studies and research.
Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri often confided to his students and colleagues that he had essentially completed the path of a people's teacher, making significant contributions to the Department, the Faculty, the University, and the country during both wartime and peacetime. He was always proud of his students and deeply grateful to his teachers and the places where he had studied, fought, and worked.
