Southeast Asian Studies: A Field of Study with Great Potential

Southeast Asia is today the most dynamic economic region in the world with a population of over 650 million people and a GDP of over 2,600 billion USD (2018). The World Economic Forum (WEF) predicts that by 2020, this region will become the 5th largest economy in the world. Not only does it have a rich culture, history and great potential for economic development, Southeast Asia is also increasingly becoming a united and connected entity, demonstrated by the formation of the ASEAN Community since the end of 2015. The importance and attractiveness of this region has promoted the formation of many research and training centers on Southeast Asian studies around the world.
