Linguistics: Towards Application and Interdisciplinary Studies

Linguistics is one of the oldest departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and is also a leading unit nationwide in research and training high-quality human resources in the field of linguistics. In recent years, the department's training program has been adjusted and updated towards applied and interdisciplinary approaches, thus meeting the practical needs of society. As a result, the percentage of linguistics graduates finding employment relevant to their training always exceeds 80%. We had a conversation with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Cam Lan, Vice Dean in charge of the Linguistics Department, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, about the training program as well as the department's current and future direction.
