In some universities around the world, age is often used to recognize contributions. Universities like Lomonosov in Russia, Berkeley or Harvard in the US all have long histories. This is also a source of academic pride for a country. However, today, with the rapid and remarkable development in many aspects of political, social, and technological life, there are often instances of breakthroughs and significant achievements, including in the field of information and journalism. In 1990, with the permission of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Faculty of Journalism was established with a small facility but quickly attracted the participation of many renowned educators and scientists. The Faculty has produced many professors and doctors, including Do Xuan Ha, Do Quang Hung, Doan Huong, Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, Vu Quang Hao, Duong Xuan Son, Dinh Huong, and others.

Generations of teachers and staff of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication
Fortunately, the Faculty of Journalism was established within the larger scientific environment of the National University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, so professors from the History, Philosophy, and Economics faculties all participated in assisting with teaching. The Faculty has organized the compilation of many textbooks and scientific works such asHistory of Vietnamese Journalism: Time and WitnessesThis three-volume memoir features journalists who fought against the French and Americans, along with individual works by the professors. The heads of the department are, in turn, Professor Ha Minh Duc, who served two terms (1990-2000), Associate Professor Dinh Van Huong, who served two terms (2000-2010), and currently Associate Professor Dang Thi Thu Huong, a young female professor. Dang Thi Thu Huong was a top student in the first cohort, studied abroad in England, and earned a PhD in journalism. The vice-heads are all young, dynamic students from the first and third cohorts.
Time has flown by, and more than twenty years have passed. Many of the older teachers have retired one after another.
The Journalism Department today is brimming with youthful energy. The general trend among the younger generation is a conscious effort to develop the science in a modern direction and keep up with the developments in world journalism. Most of the faculty members are proficient in English. Many have received training and hold high academic degrees in the UK, Australia, South Korea, etc. This is an advantage and a foundation for teaching and scientific research. Although some faculty members are older and retired, many participate effectively in cultural and social activities. Ms. Doan Huong is a frequent guest of the faculty.Morning coffee.Doan Huong and Nguyen Thi Minh Thai are two of the "female orators" in the program.Melody of PrideSpeaking eloquently, sharply, sweetly, and with a touch of wit, he's second to none. Associate Professor Vu Quang Hao, a true linguist, still travels back and forth to the highlands, contributing to the development of ethnic languages. Associate Professor Duong Xuan Son remains as enthusiastic and energetic as ever. As for Professor Pham Dinh Lan, he single-handedly reigns supreme: Director of the Center for Journalism and Communication Studies at the University. The Center has the capability to produce films of suitable length. I thank the Center for proceeding with the University's suggestion and producing a film for me.The bird's wings never tire.On the occasion of my 80th birthday. The film's title is beautiful, but in reality, in recent years, the 'wings of the bird have grown weary,' it has flown less and preferred to stay in its nest, basking in the warmth of straw.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, presents flowers to Professor Ha Minh Duc - the first Head of the Faculty - on the occasion of his 80th birthday (2014).
The Faculty of Journalism and Communication is developing amidst a strong and successful national journalism movement. Every year, lecturers from various newspapers and journalistic talents emerge and undertake important tasks within this movement. Within this broader picture, students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication have made a small contribution. Many of them hold the position of Editor-in-Chief of newspapers, such as Thuc Hanh (Women's Newspaper), and more recently, Pham Anh Tuan (Vietnamnet).
At Central Television, I remember Hồng Quang, Đỗ Đức Hoàng, Việt Hà, Bùi Thu Thủy, Bùi Hồng Phúc, Vũ Thanh Hường… and many other hidden talents waiting to be discovered. Thinking about the contributions of the students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication to media organizations outside of Vietnam, I am very happy and proud of the Faculty.
Writing these lines to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Faculty's founding, I cannot help but be moved by the changes brought about by time. Time brings both sadness and joy, as a law of life, but above all, it is a blessing for those who know how to respect and use time effectively.
