Today, amidst the celebrations of the 61st anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi on October 10th and in preparation for Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate its 70th anniversary, 20th anniversary of establishment, and to receive recognition.First-class Labor MedalOn behalf of the School's leadership team, I would like to extend my warmest thanks and welcome to the Deputy Prime Minister, the leaders of central ministries, departments, and agencies, provinces and cities, Hanoi National University, distinguished international and Vietnamese guests, faculty members, staff, and all generations of students and trainees.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Exactly 70 years ago, in the context of a newly independent nation, understanding the aspirations of a peace-loving and freedom-seeking people striving to overcome poverty and backwardness, on October 10, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, signed Decree No. 45 establishing the Faculty of Literature at Hanoi University, with the hope of developing national culture and education, so that Vietnam could soon achieve independence.'Keeping up with the rest of the world'That was an extremely wise and correct decision, demonstrating the strategic vision of a brilliant leader regarding the role and mission of Social Sciences and Humanities in the cause of national construction and development. Throughout the nine years of protracted resistance with countless hardships and sacrifices, the teachers and students of the Faculty of Literature contributed to the common victory of the nation, creating a Dien Bien Phu victory.Famous across five continents, shaking the earth."After peace was restored, in 1956, inheriting and continuing the tradition of the Faculty of Literature, the Party and Government decided to establish Hanoi University to meet the new development requirements of the country. During the fierce years of the resistance war against the US, although evacuated to many rural areas in the North, with the support and protection of the people, the teachers and students of Hanoi University continued to diligently research and train, actively participating in the emulation movement."pen in hand, gun in hand" and successfully completed the assigned tasks. After the reunification of the country, from 1975 onwards, the faculty and staff of Hanoi University not only successfully completed their own duties but also actively supported and assisted other universities, making a significant contribution to the building of the nascent revolutionary university in the southern provinces. Subsequently, from the late 1970s to the early 1980s, at the request of our neighboring country and in fulfillment of international duties, hundreds of faculty members of the University volunteered to go to Cambodia to participate in a program teaching Vietnamese language and culture, aiming to strengthen solidarity and contribute to the revival of the land of the temples after the genocide. In the early 1990s, implementing the Party and State's policy of building a leading multi-disciplinary training center in the country, Hanoi National University was established with four member universities, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. From In 1995, the School began operating independently within the new structure of Hanoi National University.

Over seven decades of construction and development, from the Faculty of Literature (1945-1955), then Hanoi University (1956-1995), to the present day, the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities has consistently maintained its position as a leading training and research center in the country. Throughout this process, the faculty, staff, and students of the University, generation after generation, have persistently strived, worked diligently, studied hard, and always excellently fulfilled their assigned tasks.
In terms of education, from the time of Hanoi University to the present day, the School has trained and provided the country with tens of thousands of bachelors, thousands of masters, and doctoral graduates. Among them, many have become renowned educators, scientists, brilliant generals, managers, and famous political and social activists of the country.
Looking back, it can be affirmed that the University has followed the right direction in building a research university and has always maintained a pioneering position in the development of basic sciences. The trend is to prioritize research.specializedcombined with researchinterdisciplinaryandmultidisciplinaryIt has created scientific products of high intellectual value. In particular, since the establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (in 1995), based on its new, higher legal status, the University has actively built and developed many new academic disciplines; it has led the implementation of many programs, projects, and research topics with high scientific and practical value. The results of hundreds of research topics, along with thousands of published works both domestically and internationally, have not only improved the quality of education but also contributed to addressing the economic, cultural, and social development needs of the country and strengthening international integration.
To maximize its potential and professional strengths, and to expand its influence and international academic space, the University also pays great attention to building and expanding cooperative relationships with universities, research institutions, and international organizations both domestically and abroad. To date, the University has established relationships and signed cooperation agreements with over 200 universities and international organizations, including many renowned universities and academies in Asia and around the world. Every year, the University proactively organizes or collaborates with universities and research institutions in Vietnam and abroad to organize dozens of scientific conferences, including many national and international conferences, which are highly appreciated by experts and the public.
Besides Vietnamese students, the Hanoi University of Humanities and Social Sciences is also a leading center, making significant contributions to the implementation of foreign affairs tasks assigned by the Party and the State. To date, the University has trained thousands of international students and researchers in Vietnamese language and specialized skills, including 8 who have become ambassadors of their respective countries to Vietnam, and 6 who have become Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers of Laos and Cambodia.
With these exceptionally outstanding achievements, the faculty and staff of the University have been awarded many prestigious titles and awards by the Party, the State, and the Government. Over the past 70 years, hundreds of collectives and individuals within the University have received medals of various ranks, and thousands of collectives and individuals have received emulation titles and awards from various sectors and levels, from the central government to the provinces, cities, and Hanoi National University. Ten educators from the University have been awarded...Ho Chi Minh Prize14 teachers received the award.State Award for Science and Technology25 teachers were awarded the title.People's Teacher56 teachers were awarded the title.Outstanding TeacherThe school was awarded.First-class Independence Order (2001)titleHeroic Labor Unit(2005);Ho Chi Minh Order(in 2010); and today, the School is once again honored to receive this prestigious award from the President of Vietnam:Second First-Class Labor Medal.

The achievements that the School has attained over the past time are the result of persistent and creative work, continuous striving for excellence, with determination, passion for innovation and high responsibility for the cause of education and science of many generations of teachers, staff, and students of the School.
On this solemn occasion, on behalf of the University's leadership, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the leaders of the Party, State, and Government; the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi National University, universities, research institutes, businesses, agencies, organizations, collectives and individuals, scientists and leaders and managers at the central and local levels throughout the country for their consistent attention, guidance, support, and assistance to the University in many aspects over the years, contributing to the achievements, position, and reputation of a leading university in the country in Social Sciences and Humanities.
On behalf of the University, I would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the generations of distinguished professors and teachers who made immense contributions to the creation of the first fundamental and core values, which are:patriotism,the spirit of openness and humanism, compassionof our university. From the first generation of professors such as Tran Van Giau, Tran Duc Thao, Dang Thai Mai, Dao Duy Anh, Cao Xuan Huy, Nguyen Van Huyen, Nguyen Manh Tuong to the next generation of outstanding educators and scientists such as Nguyen Tai Can, Phan Cu De, Ha Minh Duc, Dinh Xuan Lam, Phan Huy Le, Ha Van Tan, Tran Quoc Vuong, and the current generation of professors, they have created a tradition and an unmistakable academic identity of a leading university in the country.
To achieve this joy today, we cannot forget the noble contributions and sacrifices of the heroic martyrs, teachers, staff, and students over many generations. We respectfully bow our heads and express our deepest gratitude to the exemplary faculty and students of the School, such as Professor Le Anh Xuan, and students Chu Cam Phong, Nguyen Trong Dinh, Nguyen Hong… who, during the arduous years of the resistance war, heeded the sacred call of the Fatherland, readily set aside their studies to go to the battlefield, and bravely fought and sacrificed for this school and for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the teachers and staff in the School's leadership, the leaders of departments, faculties, centers, and the leaders of organizations and units throughout the years; and especially to the generations of teachers, staff, and employees, as well as the students, postgraduate students, and doctoral candidates who have worked and studied at the School for their close ties and their silent and tireless efforts and contributions to the School's progress and development.
These achievements are the result of the contributions of generations of faculty and students of the University, as well as the enthusiastic support, encouragement, and significant assistance from scientists, universities, embassies, research institutions, foundations, and international organizations in many countries from Asia to Europe, America, and Africa... On this occasion, allow me, on behalf of the University, to express our most sincere and profound gratitude for this valuable assistance from our international friends near and far.

In the coming period, together with other member units of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is determined to strive to develop the University into a leading research university in the country, aiming to be among the top 100 universities in Asia by 2020. To achieve this goal, and to contribute to accelerating the fundamental and comprehensive reform of Vietnamese education in the coming years, the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have been, are, and will continue to make the utmost effort to implement and successfully complete the key tasks of the University's Development Strategy to 2020 with a vision to 2030, as outlined in the Resolution of the 27th Party Congress of the University.
Building upon the strength of its rich tradition and the achievements of the past 70 years, with a spirit of unity and high determination, the concerted efforts of all generations of staff and students; the guidance and support of the Party, State, and Government; the management and scientists inside and outside the University; and the enthusiastic and effective support of universities, research institutes, organizations, and individuals at the central and local levels, both domestically and internationally, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will certainly achieve even greater successes, making a worthy contribution to the cause of national construction and development, and bringing the country to quickly stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading nations, as our beloved President Ho Chi Minh always hoped.
We wish the Deputy Prime Minister and all the leaders, distinguished international and Vietnamese guests good health and well-being.
